Lorelei's POV:
My paws pound against the earth as I run through the woods. The scent of pine fills my nose. The forest comes alive with a symphony of sounds. Birds chirp overhead. My ears swivel to a different sound, the rustling of leaves as rodents scatter away out of danger.
The once blinding sunlight in the town of Mystic Falls has now replaced with the safe haven of the woods, now covered by the dense canopy above. The light pierced through, casting intricate patterns on the forest floor. Slowing from my run, I still myself for a moment, head tilted back, nose in the air.Klaus's POV:
I stand in my study painting on a canvas that was nearly complete.
Snow capped mountains stand tall in the background. Their white peaks reach toward the light blue sky. At the bottom of the canvas, the main focus of the painting is a dark blue lake with small fish. Using dark oil palettes, the scene has a touch of dreariness and darkness to it. I mix different shades of blues and greens for the finishing touches as I continue to take in the art piece.
A sense of quiet solitude envelops me.
Time becomes irrelevant.
I hear the front door open in the distance. It closes and the sounds of footsteps track through the house. Adding some more birds to circle the sky, I hear the intruder make their way into the study. Turning, I smile to see Rebekah standing there. She stares back at me giving me a similar look. Her blonde hair in waves she wears a dark red strapless top, dark jeans and boots.
"Little sister. How nice of you to drop in."
"I've come for your hybrid girlfriend. Where is she?"
This answer comes at a perfect time, the sound of a wolf howling in the distance.
Rebekah laughs a bit at this.
"Very well then."
She moves to walk out the door, but I stop her when I ask where Kol is. Turning back around, she gives me an unamused look.
" Well, my dearest youngest brother and I were busy in Europe, enjoying the peace, the late night parties, and the feeding."
I shoot her knowing look.
"" Let me guess, he left you in the midst of the party alone whilst he went off to go chase some human blood bag."
She doesn't answer, sighing as she sits down on the couch, putting her feet up on the table. Putting down my paint brush I walk over to a small end table, where a bottle of bourbon sits with a few glasses. Pouring two, I walk over and hand her one, taking a swig of my own.
" if you had told me you were coming, I would've advised against it. I must caution your sister. You may have walked into a war zone."
She looks up at me concern and confusion on her face.
" We are the Originals. Who is foolish enough to cross us?" She demands
I sigh.
" I know you've been out of the loop for a while to your sister but tell me do you remember the town Council, members of the founders of Mystic Falls?"
I see as her eyes lips press together as she thinks.
Then she laughs.
"You're 'at war' with a bunch of bloody humans?"
Lorelei's POV:
Crouching in the ferns I stare out into the distance at my prey.
A wounded turkey that was struggling to stay with the flock.
Its' leg was wounded by a hunting trap still wrapped around its leg.
Leaning back on my hind legs, I take off as fast as I can, aiming for the animal's throat. We collide, rolling on the forest floor. Feeling flesh in my jaws I clamp down as hard as I can. The turkey garbles out. Towering over it I release before claiming around the throat, not letting go until the turkey goes still,
Lying down, I feast on my meal, blood coating my fit as I rip away skin to reveal meat, chowing down. Taking my time I enjoy every piece of meat I find worthy to snack on. Once I'm finished I stand and scan my surroundings again.
Tilting my head to the air I take off for the rest of the flock.
Klaus's POV:
"Truth be told I had wished this foolishness had been wrapped up by now. If it hadn't cause such a concern with the Salvatore brothers, the Gilberts, and the bloody Bennett, witch, I would've slaughtered the lot of the Town Council done with it by now. Instead, I had to move in secret." I say
"We have lived in Mystic Falls for months now with no issue. Why are they coming after you?"
"Revenge. Lorelei killed Tyler Lockwood. Carol Lockwood has decided to make it her goal to pick my vampires off one by one. Some hybrids as well."
Rebekah shakes her head in response.
"What do you have right now?"
She sighs, staring up at the ceiling.
"Three hybrids. Twenty vampires."
I don't answer her.
Annoyed, she turns to leave yet again.
"You won't get answers from Lorelei. She's been kept in the dark on this."
