Five Months Later:

I stand at my easel painting a fall forest when Rebekah storms in.

"When are you going to release Lorelei?" She demands

" aren't we in a cheery mood this morning?" I reply

I slide the brush gently against the canvas, adding more orange to the leaves on the trees. I can hear her let out a huff of annoyance.

" She has been locked away alone long enough."

" if you're not careful little sister, you will soon join her."

" then you would have Elijah to deal with. This is ridiculous. After all this time are you seriously still cross with her?"

Knowing all too well that my little sister will not stop pestering me until she tries every angle she can take it what she wants I put my paint brush down and turn around to face her.

" Here's the truth, little sister: together the two of you lead me to believe that you were lost into the void. As far as our brother is concerned, you have paid the price. As far as a Lorelei is concerned, I don't believe that she has. A proper punishment is long overdue for her. She should consider herself lucky that her confinement doesn't come with a daily lashing. Now if there is nothing else..."

"There is. Stefan's been spotted."

" What are you waiting for then, my permission? Go get him."

" He's with Kol."

" Then let them drink the town dry and they'll be back on their way."

She scoffs and storms out.

I walk over to my table and pick up my glass of bourbon and take a swig before walking back over and picking up my paintbrush again.

Only moments later the door opens again.

This time however it is one of my hybrids, Claire.

"What is it?" I ask annoyed

"Lorelei's not eating. She says she's rather desiccate than give you one more moment of her life." Claire tells me sounding equally as fed up

Sighing, I put the brush down again and make my way to Lorelei's room. I can hear the screaming before I'm even in the hall. The sounds of things smashing against the wall. One more sound in particular has me the most concerned, the sound of a neck snapping. I rush into the room to see Lorelei climbing off the vampire I'd sent in only a few minutes ago to give her a blood bag.

"Trying to escape again? I figured you'd give up on that by now."

"No, just taking time out of your oh so busy day. How's the painting?" She says in a mocking tone

"You need to feed." I say switching the subject

"No."

"Lorelei is your petty grievance against me that important?"

"You tell me warden." She replies wiping the blood from her mouth

For a brief moment the veins by her eyes show, her eyes glowing.

Then it's gone.

"Your conditions are more than fair."

"Oh thank you so much Your Majesty."

She does a mock fake curtsy before pacing about back and forth.

I watch her, knowing all to well that she's calculating on how to get past me.

"What do you want?"

"I want out."

"And if I say no you'll just keep attacking whoever I let in? No. From now on, I'll bring it to you personally."
