Lorelei's POV:

When I wake in the morning and head out into the living room, I'm surprised to see a handful of strangers in the house, moving around fluidly, some cleaning off the blood, others repainting. They don't speak to one another or even react to my presence. It's only then I realize that they have been compelled. They're all human. I can smell it on them. Continuing to move through the house, I don't find anyone else in the house. Taking the opportunity, I slip into the study and close the door behind me. Walking over to the bookcases that are full of journals, books of poetry, history and so on.

Not what I'm looking for.

I look from one shelf from the next. A few shelves up and I see what I'm looking for.

The Mikaelson Family Grimmoires.

Deciding to be smarter about this, someone could walk in any minute, I grab one and sneak back out into the hall and back to the bedroom. There is still no door yet so I stash it in the nightstand. Normally I would stash things in the woods but I couldn't risk something like this getting damaged. Hopefully it wouldn't be noticeable with the amount of books that were still sitting on the shelf. I just barely close the drawer when Nik appears out of nowhere, causing me to jump, startled.

"Apologies love. Are you ready?"

I nod.

As ready as I'll ever be.

It's not like I've never taken a life.

I had.

In fact, I had taken quite a few.

Solely out of the need to survive.

Now I'm killing on his orders.

We head outside towards the car.

I'm surprised to see Stefan standing there with a cooler, opening the back of the car and placing it inside before closing it again.

"Should be plenty." He tells him

I look from Stefan to Nik, confused.

What's in the cooler?

Before I can ask, I begin to notice a handful of hybrids, including Tyler begin to come in from the street, and I noticed that Bree isn't with any of them. I look at Tyler confused but he avoids my gaze entirely, instead, staring off into space. He looks like he wants to be anywhere but here. I notice Carson is missing too.

I remember the faces of every single person who's life I took the other night and theirs weren't any of them.

Once again, I get that feeling that something is off. Nik thanks, Stefan, who then leaves. I'm surprised he's not going with us but right now I have a bigger question at hand. Nik open the passenger side door in gestures for me to get in but I stand still, and firm with my arms crossed. Sighing, he just lets his arm fall.

" what is it now love?"

" where is Bree?"

" love we have other matters to attend to right now."

The way he skirting the question is starting to anger me. He knows something and he doesn't want me to know which means it's not good. Whatever happened there's a reason that Carson and Bree haven't been seen and I have a sickening suspicion that he's not just keeping them hidden away somewhere.

" No Klaus you have other matters. I'm not going anywhere until you tell me where Bree is."

His eyebrows raise at this, taken aback.

His eyes dare me to continue.

I can feel the heat on my skin.

It feels like my blood is boiling.
