Klaus's POV:
I stand out on the grass of the 3 acre yard, observing as Stefan is training some of the hybrids. I'd compelled a handful of people to the Lockwood property to get my hybrids ready before it was time to send them on their way. They needed to learn to compel without issue and feed without causing a scene. They'd then learn to fight and then they'd be ready.
A handful of them would move into the mansion, as security.
The others would either gather intel or complete the tasks I needed done.
After a quick crash course, they were all given daylight rings and compelled to the property.
"How's it going?"
"Good so far."
I watch as each hybrid works on compelling and then feeding. The first body drops after a few rounds. Then another. I give Stefan a look.
I may have compelled Carol Lockwood but I don't have time to compel everyone in town to keep them from noticing the growing stack of Missing Person flyers stacking up.
There can only be so many 'animal attacks.'
"I'll take care of it." Stefan reassures
"You'd better."
I check the time and decide to head back home.
Lorelei's POV:
I pace back and forth in the living room as Tyler drains a blood bag on the couch.
I wasn't thrilled that I was going to him for help, but my options were limited.
Nik must have his suspicions because he's been keeping Bree away from me and out of the house. Taking away, my partner in crime was a pretty smart move on his end. Now it is up to me convincing Tyler to help me wake Rebekah and so far with the way the conversation has been going for the past 30 minutes... my odds didn't seem very good.
" it's already miserable enough with Mikaelson around. You really wanna wake another one?" Tyler questions
I roll my eyes.
I can't believe that out of anybody in the world this is who I'm stuck with to help me strategize.
It's not like we were making many breakthroughs. Nik was still keeping tightlipped about any of his future plans.
We still had no answers on how we were going to get into the basement.
Unless...
What if I just give up on looking for the original witch who did this spell and just try to find someone to undo it?
I turn to Tyler.
"Do you know any witches?"
He gives me a sideways look when he thinks that I'm kidding. As he realizes that I'm not, he looks irritated at the idea.
"Are you crazy?"
" Tyler in case this thought hasn't occurred to you. He's the first immortal hybrid. An original vampire. No matter what we do, no matter who we were to bring in from the outside, we will still be outmatched. It's impossible to kill him and I'd be stupid to try. I just want to level out the playing field a little."
"He'll kill you."
I shrug.
"Then I guess I'll die."
Tyler scoffs.
He doesn't bother to hide his annoyance.
Standing up off the couch, he walks over to me and moves in front of me, putting his hands on my shoulders to stop my pacing.
It had become an unfortunate habit.
"Lorelei you can't be serious about this."
"You care of that little about your own life?"
I tilt my head at him and give him a sad smile.
It's crazy that he still hasn't put the pieces together yet after being here so long.
I'm surprised he missed it.
" I don't have my own life. You had something to lose when Nik turned you. Something he can use against you. You have something to fight for. And something he can take away. After getting kicked out of my pack, I knew freedom for two years before Nik found me. He gave me two options: serve or die. You were assigned the same fate the minute he snapped your neck and turned you into a hybrid."
Tyler is silent throughout my statement. He seems to be soaking in the information of them to the last sentence when he glares at me.
He opens his mouth to speak when we hear the sounds of footsteps, approaching the doorway, and the conversation immediately ceases.
Nik walks in the doorway.
"Didn't mean to interrupt your secret little meeting." Nik says
Tyler takes a few steps away from me.
Everyone knew that I belonged to Nik.
We'd watched Nik kill one of his hybrids for putting their hands on me.
It was made crystal clear: you act on Nik's word and his alone.
Nik smirks a little at Tyler's reaction.
"Where's your boyfriend?" I ask Nik
"Where's yours?" Nik counters
"Didn't think I was allowed to have one. You know Kol is pretty hot-" I begin
Tyler who at first was looking at me like Im insane- now puts his hand over his mouth to try and keep himself from snickering. Nik's smile fades immediately, all playful banter cast aside. His expression goes cold at the thought.
Normally this would unnerve me but I sense something else hiding beneath...
Jealousy? From him? Interesting...
Our bond had always been complicated since the beginning. We would be peaceful some moments...others were not so civil.
In the years I'd been serving him, he'd known how to get under my skin, enjoying pushing my buttons just to bother me. Eventually after having enough, I started pushing back, giving him the same. Nik enjoyed the challenge.
It was never about winning the battle.
More of the way we reacted to one another.
"Go do the dishes."
"Yes, sir."
