Three Months Later:
I step back into the Mikaelson mansion, annoyed and exhausted.
It had been quite the day.
We lost 2 hybrids in one day.
One of Nik's first hybrids, some annoying teen named Tyler Lockwood, snapped and killed them both. That's all anyone knew for certain.
Honestly I'm surprised Nik didn't take his life right then and there. But he didn't.
Instead, he compelled him into obedience.
Now here I was, trudging back to the study for the dozenth time today for whatever Nik needs.
I take a deep breath before I open the door, unsure how he was doing today.
Best guess? Not great.
"Yes Nik?" I ask wearily
As the door opens wider, I can see he's standing at the easel, paintbrush in hand, staring at a blank canvas with focus.
"I have an issue I need you to take care of."
"If it's your issue, why am I the solution?" I snip
I can't help it. I haven't slept in days.
I may have a Moonlight ring that helps me change at will but I don't have the luxury that hybrids do. I can't just burn all my energy and bounce back in a matter of moments.
Nik ignores my question and begins to paint in short, even strokes with a beautiful shade of green that brightens the room. I watch as he covers the canvas. Any other day I would enjoy watching him make his art but my annoyance is beginning to grow, as does the silence.
"What's the problem Nik?" I demand
"Your attitude for starters. Secondly, I need you to go into town and gather some information for me. In the Mystic Grill, there's a server there. He's one of my spies. I need you to go down there and figure out where he is. He didn't check in and I have questions that need answers." Nik says as he continues to paint
"Your hybrids can't do this because..." I trail off
The paintbrush stops mid stroke.
Before I can even respond, he's inches from my face, moving quicker than my brain can even process. My breath catches in my chest as I stare up at him, breathing in his scent.
Fresh paint and pine.
I open my mouth to speak but he doesn't give me the chance.
There's barely any space between us.
Fuck.
My face is getting hot and I pray to hell that I'm not blushing right now.
God what I wouldn't do for him to.. No.
I give myself a mental shake.
It's one thing if I have these thoughts about him. It's another problem if he knows.
Just another thing he can use against me.
I let out the breath I've been holding as calmly as I can even though I swear I'm shaking.
His stern look slowly turns to a slight smirk as he enjoys what he's doing to me.
Fuck he knows.
"This collar around your neck," He says as he loops his finger around it, pulling me even closer "It means I own you."
My neck aches from the jolt.
I keep my hands at my sides, knowing better than to touch him.
"I know." I say
