Lorelei's POV:

Pulling off my tank top and sliding my shorts off, I step forward and close my eyes as I feel the transformation begin- from human to wolf. Through this, I would break every bone in my body and change under the full moon. I'd turned so many times in my life as a result of my ability to turn at will, it was quicker and no longer painful. Within moments, all four legs on the ground, I take off deeper into the forest.

I transform back into my human state. The trees look like twisted shadows in the darkness. Taking a minute to stretch and breathe, I contemplate what I'll be hunting tonight. I grew up living mainly as a wolf, I eat as one too. Spending at least an hour or two a day hunting down to average deer to eat. I hear an owl hooting off in the distance and smile.

I step forwards towards the creek. It was around 10 feet wide, shallow in the front, deep enough further back that I could be completely underwater. Stepping into the cool water, touching the soft mud underneath, I sit down at the edge. I listen to the birds chirp as the sun begins to set. Th cool water feels soothing against my hot skin. We were in the midst of a disgusting heat wave that would last at least the next few days. As the sky continues to darken I decide to climb out and turn, hunt and head home. I get lucky on the way, finding a few wild turkeys. Werewolves can run at a speed of at least 80 mph. Picking off a few turkeys? A cake walk. I lie down, enjoying my feast before taking off again towards the direction of home.

I've just turned back again, pulling up my jeans when I hear a branch snap behind me.

Whipping around, I'm immediately on high alert as a figure steps out from behind the shadows. I'm surprised someone would be out here so late. Then, as the figure steps closer and into the moonlight, I have to do everything in my power not to throw a rock at his head.

"Tyler?! What the hell are you doing out here?"

"Looking for you. Klaus sent me."

I sigh as I pull the top back over my body, tugging at the bottom until it covers my skin again, not that it mattered. There was really no shame when it came to nudity and werewolves, especially with hybrids. We all shift in and out between forms so much we had all seen each other naked countless times. I lean down and grab my phone, shoving it in my pocket.

"I have a phone. Could've saved you the trip."

This isn't even half true as I had left my phone with my clothes, and I probably wouldn't have picked up even if he had called because the only time he does bother me as if it's for Nik.

"You weren't answering. Klaus is getting suspicious that you're avoiding him."

"That's because I am avoiding him. I'm out of vervain and it's not like he keeps a stock in the mansion."

"I'll get you some. I'll meet you back at the house. You need to go before Klaus puts two and two together."

If only I could stay out here forever.

I take off through the woods and make it to the house about 10 minutes later. I walk in the door half expecting Nik to be there as he always is and am surprised to enter an empty room. I hear faint jazz sounds coming from inside the study. Heading into the kitchen, I open the fridge to grab a cold water before walking towards the study.

I walk in to see Nik standing at an easel, paintbrush in hand, painting a snow-capped mountainous landscape, complete with an orange and pink sunset.

"The Autumn Fest will be tomorrow. An event hosted by the Town Council. Tyler will provide security along with a handful of my other hybrids, listening to the chitchat and inform me of any issues that may arise."
