Klaus's POV:

Sitting in the Mystic Grill, I scope out my next potential future vampire spy.

Ever since I had made the decision to stay, much had changed. Over time I had killed off a handful of people I had turned. They were not loyal. The relationship between Elijah and I was even more strained. Truth be told he did not want to stay in Mystic Falls. Kol kept to himself, away from the entire situation. He came around to spend time with Rebekah, avoiding me. For what, I was unsure. Perhaps he was still crossed that I daggered him.

"I need a word with you." A familiar, female voice says.

I turn around to see blonde haired, blue eyed young woman in her late teens. She stands in front of me, arms crossed, looking very unhappy.

" Hello love." I say

"Did you find him or not?" She demands

I withhold a sigh.

" Not yet Caroline. Rest assured, I am doing everything in my power to make certain that we will have an answer soon."

She scoffs at this.

" 'Everything in your power?' Gee I don't know, have you tried compelling her?"

I pick up the glass and down the rest of the bourbon, signaling to the bartender to fill it back up again. Caroline puts her hand out as the man goes to pour into the glass saying that I had enough. As the man walks away, I turn to Caroline in a low voice and tell her that I'll either be filling up with bourbon or sinking my teeth into the man's neck. She rolls her eyes, but I can see the worry behind the sarcastic façade. She repeats the question, and I tell her it was the first thing that I had tried. So far none of the witches I had gotten into contact with, could break the spell or locate the witch who had casted it.

"Fine. Then let me go talk to her."

" Why? So you can kill her?"

Caroline says nothing avoiding my gaze which answers yes, she would gladly end Lorelei's life, if it meant getting her boyfriend back. I wasn't sure if I believed Lorelei's story that he was dead. The only lives I had ever seen her take for those who deserved it, and when I forced her hand. I turn to Caroline with a straight face, voice threatening and cold. I tell her that, regardless of whatever is going on between Loreley and I, she is still my family, and if she takes her life, I will take hers. In all actuality, I hate to say such things to her as I see her as one of the closest people in my life but I cannot allow her to try and kill Lorelei. Silence grows between us. I can see her mind racing for answers.

"Is Tyler alive?" She asks, speaking as if the very uttering of the question pains her

"I don't know."

Unhappy with this response, she turns and storms off.

With a deep sigh, I toss some cash on the bar and head for home.

Moving through the house I head for the basement. This situation had been going on for days. This spell had to be anchored to something but to what, I wasn't sure.

Opening the door to the cell, I spot Lorelei in the corner, her ankles and wrists chained to hooks on the ground and floor, keeping her from breaking free and escaping. She doesn't look at me as I enter. I'd grabbed a vial of blood from the fridge to give her. I watch her closely. She'd been locked in down here for days. At first, she was angry and attacked. Now she doesn't do anything. She still hadn't clarified on if Tyler was alive or a location. I could see her breaking but by bit each day. My hybrids scoured the town., I even had a witch do a locator spell.

Nothing.

He was either cloaked by the witch Lorelei had recruited or he was dead.

"Where is Tyler, Lorelei?"
