2 years after Charlotte left for war

In this short life
That only an hour
How much-how little-is
Within our power

Emily writes at her desk vigorously as she has been for the years her wife has been gone, write various poems and letters to her wife in war

Sue knocks on her best friends door anxiously as she holds some water and food for Emily to eat

She hasn't left her room much since Charlotte left for war and is back to being recluse which worries her family more than it did before

"Go away" Emily yells out as she feel the ideas swirling in her brain, her heart racing and feeling more intense than normal which has become normal as of late

"Emily you need food and water" Sue says and Emily sighs before getting up and opening the door to reveal Sue's worried face

"Thank you..now eat" Sue says as she hands Emily the tray, Emily just nods and puts the tray on her bed before going back to her poems, Sue sighs knowing she can't leave before Emily eats

Sue walks into the room and sits in the bed and just watches Emily, no romantic feeling left between one another as everyone has now past that era

"Sue you can leave" Emily says as she keeps writing but Sue shakes her head even though emily isn't looking at her

"No...you need to eat...you can't keep being like this...Kingsley would-

"Don't!.....leave now!" Emily says sternly, Sue immediately shuts her mouth and remains quiet and just watches her best friend write like she has been doing for two years

Across the world......

"Kingsley...man your station" A soldier says, Kingsley nods and runs over to where she is needed before shooting at enemies,

Her fellow solider move and she does the same as they shoot and look out for enemies, a solider near by goes down with a shot to the leg causing Kingsley to stop in her tracks

"Man down" She yells before running over and flinging the man on her shoulder as best she can while running......

~Four years after Charlotte went to war~

Charlotte smiles as her commanding officers pin a new pin to her fatigue, the fellow soldiers clap and applaud her as she shakes hands with her commanding officer

After the ceremony, Charlotte sits at her desk with a smile as she write to her love at home

"God I miss you Emily...my poet" She says to herself as she kisses the envelope and puts it down, just as she does, one of her fellow soldiers runs in panicked

"Suit up men, we are heading out immediately" He says and Charlotte grabs her jacket in a rush before running with her crew.....

~Ten years after Charlotte went to war~

Emily walks through her empty home with an empty heart and her body feeling cold, today would have been her and Charlotte's twelve year anniversary of them meeting with their wedding anniversary coming up soon
