Afterlife by the one and only Hailee Steinfeld
~Emily~

I lay in my bed, in my childhood home with my brother and Sue on my left and Charlotte's cousins on my right, they all look at me sadly as they know I'm not going to make it through the night

After my stroke, I couldn't walk and with this was my heath declining steadily

"Emily....we're here...it's ok to rest...your not leaving us tonight" Sue says and I smile at her

"Sue....let's not pretend like this isn't my last day living" I say and Austin sniffles as he tries to keep his tears in

"Your not leaving us Emily" He says and I sigh

"Austin I want you to know I forgive you....for everything" I say causing my brother to finally make eye contact with me and his eyes are much softer than they were before

"I forgive you too Sue....we were always meant to be friends...never lovers...I'm sorry that I never gave you the understanding you wanted...but I'm happy you gave it to me after a while" I say in almost a whisper as I feel my body ready to give out

"We love you Emily" Sue cries and Austin nods and he puts his hand on Sue's shoulder, I smile and look over to my in laws who are crying softly

"It's ok....I'll be with my true love again..your cousin....she would have loved to have met you both...I know I'm happy I did" I say as I caress the young boy's head and smoke at his sister

"I'm happy I met you too Cousin Emily...I don't want you to die though" The boy says and I smile

"Yea...we don't want you to go" The older girl cries but tries to remain strong, just like my Charlotte

"But I am...look at it like this....I am at peace...with my poems and with my strong soldier"I say as I feel my heart slowing, my eyes grow incredibly heavy as I my hand falls harshly away from the younger boy's head

"Emily?...Emily!" I hear my brother yell but his voice is getting quieter and quieter, I feel my hand fall and my heart peacefully stop and my brain is finally at its destination.....
