The Angelic Realm: Auris City. – Auris' Institute.

JAKE SIM

Heeseung's team guided me through their institute to meet in the lounge, where we sat and waited for Heeseung to speak. Currently, I don't understand anything that has happened. I couldn't grasp why Heeseung agreed to take me into his team or why his crew challenged the entire angelic council for me. Yes, I get it; I'm a Phoenix Angel, but I don't see the relevance in my powers. I've always had them and never caused trouble; thus, dragging me to The Angelic Realm issues wasn't the best decision. Beyond the internal fights between angels, the demons are still out there, patiently waiting for our downfall and taking what's ours.

The New Order teammates talked about what occurred with The Council; however, my head wandered, and I couldn't pay attention to them. My mind replayed the moment I saw Conah's murderer; it made my blood boil, and my wishes for revenge became stronger after knowing his position. Governor Daehyun, the ruler of Auris, killed Conah. The more I think about him, the less control I have over myself; I want to run away—return home and plan my revenge.

"The Supreme leader was clear. She wants us to add Jake to our team." Sunghoon's voice immediately captured my attention, causing me to snap out of my thoughts.

"I'm not against that, Sunghoon. I worry about Jake's enemies," Heeseung admitted, making me frown.

"Jake's enemies?" Sunoo questioned before we looked at each other, confused by Heeseung's words.

"Yes. Jake doesn't know who may want to hunt him, let alone the angels who got paid to kill him," Heeseung pointed out.

Your boss wants to kill me.

I sighed after complementing Heeseung's statement inside my head. Then, I looked at Sunghoon and waited for him to say something else. "The Council may count as Jake's enemies. After all, they wanted to punish him for only existing," Sunghoon pointed out.

He's smart. I could count on him.

I nodded at Sunghoon's words before Heeseung hummed and captured my attention. I stared at him, hoping he wouldn't defend his superiors. "Jake isn't safe with them either. But for now, our biggest threat is the Hollow Wings team. They would do anything to get The Council and our headmistress' trust," Heeseung suggested, concerned.

"Adriel seemed to have more interest in Jake than the rest of his team," Sunoo pointed out.

"You noticed it, too?" Heeseung's eyes widened while looking at Sunoo. The other nodded, making him take a deep breath. "We must be cautious."

"Jake. Is there anything you'd like to say?" Sunghoon suddenly asked.

"Me?" I questioned.

"Yes, you haven't said a word since we arrived," Sunghoon mentioned.
