After gathering all the supplies for the mission, we went to Idea City's institute but entered from below. The canal underneath the bridge led us to a metal door, which allowed us access to the deepest levels. We separated, following the map we previously studied. Sunghoon and Niki went to the security room to deactivate the cameras; in the meantime, the remaining members moved forward to find the pendant's room. The sewers helped us avoid the protected corridors until K identified our target; we entered the first lighted hallway and took down the angels on guard.
Sunoo and EJ took the lead and altered the traps surrounding the pendant's room. Once the doors opened, K and I withdrew our shards and stabbed them into the protective shield's core. Soon, the barrier shattered and became fine glass; Nicholas exchanged the pendants before Sunoo completed the illusion with a particular rune from his origin. The shield and the legendary object were fake but appeared authentic thanks to Sunoo's abilities.
"Let's get out of here." I breathed deeply before sprinting to exit alongside my team. We covered our faces with masks and returned to the sewer entrance upon hearing chattering from a distant corridor. Once our position was safer, Sunoo contacted Sunghoon and informed him of our success, and immediately began their trail back to the exterior and meet us with the pendant with Niki—at last.
Angelic Realm: Auris City.
JAKE
Everyone's attempt to fit in was laughable; blending with the conservative angels—like Adriel labeled previously—appeared forced, and their conspicuous manners didn't blind me anymore. The world around me was a forgery reality that transcended without The Council's acknowledgment. It was bizarre since the group's purpose was protecting the angelic history and the species; they were the nurturers and shields to counter the animosity and bloodshed demons and angels could cause owing to our differences in beliefs and livelihoods. Nobody fooled me anymore; I knew most angels walking through these corridors wanted to see the world burn.
Despite explaining my discoveries to Junghwa, we still met with the headmistress. He asked for Governor Aera's requested information and reassured her she would aid Auris City. According to Yiyun, all the institute's units attempt to keep the demons away from the streets and anywhere risky for the citizens. She put on an impeccable act; I almost believed it. Still, the information she provided was sound since her lies were evident. Perhaps a couple of units tried to eliminate the beasts, but most of them allowed them to pass—to go through without resistance.
