I moved away from Heeseung, breaking the hug immediately. He tenderly looked at me, something I hadn't seen from him. I subtly snickered before we looked into our eyes, making them glow again. Now, the oddity within this ability didn't bother me. I was getting used to it, and deep inside, I was scared of the meaning behind our connection.
"Before I continue talking about my past, I want Sunghoon and Sunoo to hear about it, too," I told Heeseung, gathering the courage and finally speaking about my rage toward angels.
"Alright. Wait here," Heeseung grinned and cluttered my hair before leaving the study. When I heard the door closing, I took a deep breath and shut my eyes.
What are you doing, Jake? You can't trust angels so easily.
I fought with my inner self. My brain and my heart wanted different things. One wanted me to be rational, and the other wanted me to follow my gut. Ultimately, I knew Conah would appreciate it if I relied on someone else rather than myself. I bet he's watching me, biting his nails, and praying I don't stand alone against everyone—at last. It sounds like something I would do: reckless and listless of whoever is before me only to get vengeance and justice for him.
Eventually, the study entrance opened, and the New Order team approached my position. "Hey!" Sunghoon patted my shoulder and sat beside me.
"Hyung!" Sunoo happily greeted me before taking a seat.
I smiled at Sunghoon and Sunoo before Heeseung stood between them, crossing his arms while waiting eagerly. "You may speak now, Jake. What did you want to say?" Heeseung questioned while looking my way, still adverting his eyes from mine.
"I think I'm ready to tell everyone why I loathe angels," I soberly spoke and nervously fidgeted my fingers.
"Take a deep breath."
After hearing Heeseung's voice, I flinched and looked at him. With his head low, he motioned at the Transmission Rune on his arm. It was glowing, meaning it was active.
"You scared me!"
"What? Did you think you were going crazy?"
"How funny!"
I rolled my eyes at Heeseung's teasing, and for a moment, I forgot I was in the middle of a serious conversation. "So, why is that?" Sunghoon suddenly asked, causing me to focus on him.
Damn you, Heeseung!
I took a deep breath, just like Heeseung suggested. Then. I cleared my throat and spoke. "I've always lived in the Blackburry Forest but wasn't alone until a few years."
