The Angelic Realm: Auris City. – Auris' Institute.
It just occurred; the phoenix's pendant alarm blew off, and all units got called for an urgent meeting. Everyone gathered in the control room, waiting for our superior to come. – I could see all angels' concerned faces; they all feared the phoenix angel. After all, The Council swore once to kill it, and now, they want it back on our side before the demons arrive. – While waiting, I looked at my team and reassured them of our safety regardless of the current circumstances. I didn't want them to worry about something that hadn't happened yet: the return of the phoenix angel.
"Let's get down to business!" The entrance door flew open, and Yiyun, the institute's head, entered with her team. Then, she approached everyone and stood before the central table. "The pendant is safe, according to Governor Minjun; however, it's glowing. That means something or someone is causing it to react."
"It could be the newborn!" An angel suggested.
"It can't be; the Newborn is missing. No one can find them," Sunoo, one of my teammates, pointed out.
"Another phoenix angel, perhaps," Kang Ophiel, a member from one of Auris' units, said.
"Whatever it is, we need to find it," Yiyun said before looking at me. "Heeseung," she called my name.
LEE HEESEUNG
"Yes?" I answered while stepping closer to the table.
"You must go to Idea with your team and protect the pendant. Wait for further instructions after the imminent hunt for the power source of the pendant," Yiyun ordered before looking at Wu Adriel, the leader of the other unit. "Adriel, you must find the source causing the pendant's reaction."
"Of course, I—"
"—with all due respect, headmistress. I believe my team must go to the hunt, not Hollow Wings," I interrupted Adriel without hesitation.
"May I ask why you are objecting to my orders?" Yiyun questioned while the Hollow Wings team looked at me, displeased.
I stuttered; I didn't know why I suddenly objected. Yet, I felt like I had to go. "If the Hollow Wings team finds something. They might cause trouble; their ways are quite cruel."
"Well. That's how you win, Lee," Adriel scoffed before looking at Yiyun. "Director, can we proceed?"
"Of course," Yiyun ignored my objection entirely, causing me to feel frustrated. Still, I didn't understand my reaction and left defeated with my team.
"Why did you object, hyung?" Sunghoon asked as we walked out of the room.
"I don't know, I felt like I had to," I admitted while guiding my team to the practice area.
