The Angelic Realm: Auris City. – Auris' Institute.

JAKE SIM

This morning, Sunghoon came to my room and talked to me about trust. He wanted me to know that I could count on him in anything and reassured me of my safety beside the New Order team. Sunghoon's conversation was surprising but made me feel grateful. Last night, I had many concerns, thoughts, and doubts regarding my decisions. Yet, Sunghoon's intervention helped me realize that there's a possibility to make justice for Conah. After ending our talk, we received a call from Heeseung; he asked us to join an important meeting at the institute's central hall. Immediately, Sunghoon and I left my room and hurried. Neither of us knew why the sudden gathering until later, we realized it was urgent since many angels ran through the halls to the meeting place.

Eventually, we arrived and stood with our team once we saw Heeseung and Sunoo. The gossiping blared through the entire room; however, when the headmistress appeared, the silence arrived again. We stood before the digital round table that the headmistress controlled effortlessly.

"Azias City and Poevia City. Two of our neighbors encountered groups of demons on their frontiers. Thus, The Council gave us a heads-up to use our units to protect Auris City," the headmistress explained while showing the images of both cities getting attacked.

"Do you have a plan already?" Heeseung asked.

"Yes. Most teams will watch the city's perimeter, and I'll send four teams to the frontiers: north, south, west, and east," the headmistress answered before looking at Adriel. "You must go to Evermore Forest with your team. And Heeseung, you stay here with your team," she told him.

"Yes, boss," Adriel nodded.

I frowned at the headmistress's choice. Her command didn't amuse me.

I waited for further instructions from Yiyun, as I differed from her previous order. However, I averted my glance from her and saw Jake's baffled expression. Suddenly, he raised his hand, to which the headmistress answered with a nod.

"Why should Hollow Wings go to the forest instead of us?" Jake questioned, conflicted.

"Well. The team's angels are the most skilled," Yiyun said, causing me to frown.

What? We are better than them. That's a fact!

"Are you belittling the New Order team because I'm with them? Headmistress, please remember that I come from the woods—one of the biggest and most dangerous. Hence, respectfully, I believe we must go instead," Jake earnestly said. He stood his ground and didn't flinch while speaking. It made me proud, and my expression couldn't hide it. I had to smile.
