The Council members flew to the city after the battle, and our forces freed the hostages—we recovered the territory; however, Daehyun retreated, and nobody knew where he went. Angels took the injured to the institute, and so did the dead. Still, the destruction within the forest remained; hence, my friends and I returned to the woods. My angel glanced at me, unsure of the following step, and I understood his sentiment; I felt lost, too.
"The fire," I murmured while watching the flames around the perimeter.
"Rest assured," Heeseung subtly smiled with his fiery eyes. He left my side and raised his hand while the other drew a symbol; it was a triple circle. Automatically, the fire from the trees and bushes traveled to his hand. All the flames accumulated into a small red orb that Heeseung held and destroyed.
With Heeseung's power flowing through my body, I wanted to honor the creatures that helped us; thus, I placed my hands on the ground and restored the soil and plants around us with my powers. The foliage appeared greener, and the rain suddenly arrived to make other plants bloom. Heeseung glanced at me proudly, and for one, nobody else mattered but us and this moment. Suddenly, the creatures cried with joy before running around their home.
"You two must go. Now!" K urgently spoke while walking to Heeseung and me. Immediately, we deactivated our connection and frowned at him.
"Why? You sound alarmed," Heeseung pointed out.
"You must escape before The Council interrogates both. Your connection scared Daehyun; thus, our superiors might see you as a threat," K suggested. His words caused our friends to gather around and exchange concerned glances.
"Wait! Daehyun is the target; why would they question us?" I argued.
"Your aura was extremely potent; I saw it," K worriedly spoke.
"Our leader is an Aura Angel; he knows what he's talking about. And even we were shocked by your power," EJ added to K's statement.
"Cap, I think you must go, too. You know how The Council operates better than anyone; they'll come for you," Sunghoon agreed with K's suggestion.
"What about you? I can't leave you alone with Daehyun on the loose," Heeseung spoke, concerned.
"Daehyun is weak; he won't return until his forces grow stronger," Sunoo assured Heeseung, but he didn't look convinced.
"If you two get to safety, we'll be together longer." Niki's hopeful thought caused everyone to smile. I only snickered, captivated by his innocent heart but brutal skills.
