Earlier that day:

Mike's POV:

I was getting ready to go and pick up y/n.

I was gonna take her to this nice restaurant. I've only been there once but I really liked it, and wanna take her there.

It'll cheer me up to see her, after this really weird week.
No not weird.

Awful.

It's been an awful week.

_______________

I look in the bathroom mirror one last time. I take a deep breath, as I run a hand through my hair.

A nasty bruise on the side of my face.

Just a lingering reminder of what happened last night.

I wish I could forget it.

.........

I head downstairs and walk out the front door.

But I didn't expect to see....

"Charlie?"

"Michael" exclaims the feminine voice.

"Is that really you?" I say softly.

She nods with a grin.

"Charlotte Emily. Now that's a face I'd never thought I'd see again. What are you doing here?"

"Oh I was just passing by.. thought I'd visit you. Its only been around 4 years or so but who's counting? " she says in a sarcastic tone.

"Oh just passing by, were you? You live ages away." I laugh.

"It's good to see you too Mike. You've grown." She exclaims.

"So have you! You're almost as tall as me" I joke.

She laughs, "I've missed you so much."

She steps forward to hug me, but I'm hesitant to.

She notices and steps back.

"Sorry" I laugh. "I'd hug you back if I wasn't taken. It just doesn't feel right"

"No I'm sorry haha. I know what you mean"

I go on, "I've missed you too. After all these years, after you moved. We were only little kids then.

You certainly have some nerve coming back here. You know it's not safe."

"That's exactly why I'm here Michael. There's a big threat here, and me and you can finally put a stop to it. Why don't we go someplace else to talk?"

I sigh and check my phone.

I hate myself for this. I know y/n will too.
But I have to do this. For her safety. And everyone else's.
