you had cancelled on atsumu today since you and osamu had to get some english work done. your friend was at your house. you and him wanted to try and have a "study session", but it was an utter fail.

you kept getting distracted. you went from scrolling on your phone, to texting, to watching youtube videos (osamu had very gladly watched them with you).

it's not like you hadn't got any work done though. you did get a good bit of english done before you got distracted.

unfortunately, it had gotten late before you could finish, so your mom insisted that osamu stayed over. he was more than happy to accept. he was over so much that he already had spare clothes at your house, so it's not like he had to sleep in dirty clothes either.

he was sprawled out on the couch, ready for sleep when you walked over to him and dropped a pillow on his stomach.

"do you need anything else?" you asked.

he eagerly grabbed it, placing it behind his head. after he did, osamu offered a subtle smile. "no thanks. you're such a sweet host."

"aww, thank you, 'samu. you never compliment me."

"don't be ridiculous, yes i do," he muttered, getting a soft smile from you.

"goodnight."

he hummed quietly as you walked out. you were jealous of the way that he could so easily fall asleep.

it was 2 am when you were startled awake by your phone ringing. you let out an irritated groan as you grabbed your phone.

you couldn't be bothered with checking the caller id. you just answered.

"hello?"

"sorry if i woke you up."

it was atsumu.

warmth pooled in your chest and your tone softened once you realized it was the boy that been making your mind a mess. "it's fine. why are you calling?"

the line went quiet for a few seconds. "uhh.. i don't know."

you rolled over so you were resting on your back. your heart was so loud in your ears you thought he might hear it. but aside from the pounding of your heart, it was silent.

you waited for him to say something, but he never did. a weary sigh slipped past your lips at his silence. "i would love to talk to you, but i'm really tired. i'm gonna hang up." you pulled the phone away from your ear, about to press the 'end call' button when he finally spoke.

"oh? you would love to love to talk to me?" you could hear the smugness roll off his lips, but there was something else. a hint of nervousness.

you brought the phone back to your ear again.

"can we talk?" he asked.

you let your head fall back against your pillow, the force forcing out a small huff. "it's 2 am atsumu."

nothing.
