SALVATORE IS SO GOOD 🎧

<3

it was monday now and you weren't sure what to make of anything. that seemed to be the norm lately. you kept trying to rationalize, telling yourself it wasn't a big deal– that you had no reason to be freaking out over atsumu when he was just your tutor.

still, that one word kept running through your head, making you your stomach turn in knots: complicated.

that meant something. it had to. if he only saw you as a friend then he would've just said that, right?

"y/n?" kita suddenly spoke, his voice pulling you out of your thoughts. for a moment you had forgotten that you were in kita's study group again since atsumu was so busy. you knew this would happen, though you couldn't help but hold out, hoping that maybe he would change his mind.

you looked up from your paper, oblivious to the ink that was slowly starting to bleed through the pages. once you realized, you quickly pulled your pen away from the papers with a gasp.

"you okay?" he asked, his brows furrowed with concern. his eyes fell on your paper, the sunken spot making your homework look messier than usual. "you seem distracted."

you hesitated, anxiously drumming your fingers against the desk. for a moment you thought about telling kita what was on your mind. it was hard not to when he looked at you like that, like he would do anything to relieve you of whatever stress you had, but you didn't.

instead you simply shrugged. "just a little nervous is all. my test is this thursday." you let out a small sigh at the thought. you didn't have that much time to study and your ever persistent thoughts of atsumu weren't helpful.

kita nodded. "that's understandable, but i'm sure you'll do good."

you appreciated his reassuring words, but it did little to calm your nerves. you tried focusing on your work, the other students helping you to some extent, yet there was a nagging question in the back of your mind.

"how's atsumu?"

you didn't want to keep asking or thinking about him, you didn't want to keep obsessing over someone who might not even feel the same way, but your mind was raptured by him. besides that though, you were genuinely worried for him. after his last spiral, you wanted to know that he was okay.

kita looked up from his papers, the question getting attention from other people around you as well.

the boy furrowed his brows at the question, "fine, i think. shouldn't you know? you're osamu's best friend. aren't they like a package deal?"

you offered a small laugh, but his statement left a heavy feeling in your chest. it was justa reminder of this messy situation. it shouldn't have mattered so much, yet it was eating at you. you kept wondering if he was doing this on purpose, if he was just messing with you, if all the small moments that made you question your whole relationship with him was all in your head.

"yeah," you murmured. "i haven't really talk to him though. how does he look at practices? he's been practicing extra, right?"

he hummed in agreement. "oh yeah. he was actually at an open gym over the weekend." yeah, you recalled. you waited expectantly for something more and he obliged. "i don't really know though. atsumu is a really good player, but i think he's burning himself out. i'm surprised coach is letting him practice for so long."
