you guys r gonna hate this 🙊

<3

"i am so.." you trailed off with a frustrated groan.

osamu sighed and nodded. "angry, i know. you've told me a million times already."

for the past two weeks atsumu had been acting weird. it was two of the most unbearable weeks of your life. atsumu was quiet, and snappy. at some point, it got so bad that you took a few rain checks to go to kita's study sessions instead.

of course, atsumu didn't know that. or you didn't think he did, anyway.

"this might seem like a crazy idea," osamu started, "but what if you just talk to him?"

you widened your eyes at the suggestion. every time you tried to have a serious talk with atsumu it ended horribly, so that was off the table. "no way," you protested, poking at your lunch.

"well, what do you want to do then?"

you wanted to fix whatever the hell this was with atsumu and go back to your easy conversations with him, but he was making it impossible.

"i don't know," you huffed, shoving your lunch to the side. "i don't want to talk about atsumu anymore."

osamu raised his brows at that. "wow. that's a first."

you shot him a glare as you stood up. "stop it. don't say that as if i'm always talking about him! i'm not!"

"yeah, you are."

"am not!"

osamu grinned and jabbed your side. "are too."

you quickly swatted his hands away before straightening your uniform. "i'm not! especially not with his brother." you felt a flash of guilt at the thought—you, gushing and complaining about atsumu to his brother. it was icky.

you made a mental note to try not to vent about atsumu anymore unless you were on the verge of losing your mind.

"anyway, i'm gonna go show some stuff to kita," you said, bending over to grab your bag and slinging it over your shoulder.

osamu paused, his smile faltering.

you stopped when you noticed the odd look on his face. "what?" you asked, your voice quieter now.

"are you replacing my brother?"

your stomach twisted. "no. i'm not."

am i?

"i just.. atsumu's really complicated right now. but i'm not replacing him."

funny, since atsumu said there was nothing complicated about you guys.

osamu stared at you for a long while before letting out a quiet hum. you stood there wordlessly. you felt like you owed an explanation, but osamu never asked for one, so after an excruciating silence you slowly made your way towards the cafeteria.

you knew kita would be there, but as you walked there you couldn't help but think about what osamu said. were you replacing atsumu? that wasn't your intention.

as infuriating, and as annoying as atsumu was you didn't want to replace him. but is that what you were doing?

you trier to push those thoughts aside. right now you just needed kita to check your math real quick. that was it. you weren't replacing atsumu by having kita check your answers... or by going to him on some days.

the more you thought about it the worst you felt so you quickly shook all that off.

when you found kita in the cafeteria you let out a small breath of relief. but halfway to him, you paused.
