Chapter 70. Voice

I woke up early, the sun was just coming up from the horizon. I didn't really want to move much for 2 reasons. The 1st being I was comfortable. The night was a cool one instead of the warmer nights we've had. The warmth came from the 2 people who were wrapped around me. Sarah and Anna were breathing in tune with each other, almost like they were mimicking each other. A few minutes later, Anna's breathing had changed. She opened her eyes, in time her eyes focused on me as I watched her wake up.

" J-John.."

" Good morning, Anna."

She let loose a big smile and her grip grew tighter around my torso. I'm not going to lie, it started to hurt. That whole " demons are physically stronger than humans" thing seems to be real. It was still at a bearable level. Anna began to bury her face into my neck. Seems she's not fully awake and thinks she's still dreaming. I don't really mind. I started to pet her dark green hair ever so gently. While all of this movement was going on, it seemed to have awakened the wolf at my back. I felt Sarah's arms begin to also tighten as I feel her embrace me with her warmth. I began to hear a whisper as well.

" Must be nice, being pet so early in the morning by your special person."

I turned to see Sarah pouting. I saw how jealous she was, so I began to pet her as well. about 10 minutes passed until I felt Anna pick herself up. I looked at her and it seems she was fully awake and embarrassed now.

" J-J-John... This isn't what you think!"

" You mean, you don't want to cuddle with me?"

To my words, she lowered her head like a child who was being scolded. She lifted her head slightly to reveal a pout on her face. She began to speak in almost a whisper to me.

" I want to."

" Then you have nothing to apologize for."

" Yeah! Just be more like me, Anna!"

Sarah proceeded to tighten her embrace around me. When I turned to face her, she kissed me. Once she released my lips, she began to speak with a wide smile on her face.

" Now that I have my morning pick me up! It's time to get going! I'll see you both in the main hall in a half an hour I suppose!"

Sarah rose from the bed with a regretful look on her face and left out the window. When will she remember doors exist, I wonder? As I was thinking about that, Anna had walked up beside me and wrapped her arms around my head. I began to speak.

" Anna, it's okay. People are different. Which means we express our loves differently as well."

Anna didn't respond with words but instead, she began to lean against me and bring her head to my shoulder. I felt a soft, warm sensation on my cheek, then Anna released me, and she began to leave the room.

" I'll be going to fetch breakfast!"

Anna seemed to be energetic as she left. I simply got dressed and waited for her. When she returned, she had a cart with both of our meals on it. Anna dressed the table we had in the room, and then we ate a meal of scrambled eggs and a piece of steak. When I praised Anna about the meal she began to beam with confidence. Before long we were finished with the meal. After Anna returned everything, she changed her clothes and had a small wooden club held on her leg.

" Anna, is that your weapon?"

She looked down at the club and nodded to my question.

" Isn't it too small?"

Anna looked confused and then a flash of understanding dawned on her. She proceeded to grab the club and began to speak.

" The wood that this club is made from is special Master. It's from a tree I've grown it myself! By feeding it my mana along with water. Because of that and the blessing of my Goddess, it acts as a magic tool for me! So, I can do something like this!"
