I find it weird that I've come to my office to relax after I finished renovating the roads and walls of Paradise. Maybe it's because I don't feel my workday is truly over after all the 12-hour days I've been putting in between hunting, training, meditating and farming. Am I becoming a workaholic? As I was thinking about the bleak prospect of my life being a never-ending stream of overtime and stress, I heard the door of my office open up. Sarah and Anna had entered the office.
" Good work today, sorry again, for making you 2 have so much work."
" Well, I don't mind, Master! I've grown a little antsy ever since the maids have taken over my usual tasks. It's even hard to practice my cooking except on the rest days you force them to have."
" I don't mind teaching them. However, I hope next time we can be together during the work. I don't like being away from you or Anna for so long. It gets lonely, My Love."
Anna and Sarah both responded to my thanks in different ways. I wish they could just use my name, but the servants work every weekday, so it only lets us be truly alone and free on the weekends. The idea that they all thought I'd let them work every day of the week nearly made me weep. I couldn't imagine not having rest days. However, once they observed my first work week here in Paradise, they began to protest about my own work schedule. I explained that this was only to start everything with the intention that I'd only have to work this hard for a few months before the slots for the multiple jobs I was doing became filled by others. They accepted my reasoning with a sideways glance. While I thought about this, I figured I needed to assure Sarah and Anna about the reasons why I needed their help on this one.
" I mean, I wasn't planning on finding Humans who needed help. I am sorry about having you both have to work while separated from me, but I don't truly trust anyone else with the task of watching over the Humans."
" What about Ruby?"
Sarah brought up Ruby when I was speaking about trust.
" I trust her as a subordinate and a person, but to watch over that amount of people? I don't think she's up for the job currently. I feel like she works better when she has someone instructing her about what to do. Like you are now, Sarah."
" Do you think she has potential to do something like that?"
Anna asked me about Ruby as well. I have no reason to lie.
" I think she would need to be educated by someone who has experience doing that. Maybe a high-ranking military official. Since I think I'll put her in the upper echelon of the military matters of Paradise. Since she likes fighting, I imagine something like that will suit her well."
" What if she turns you down, My Love?"
" Then, I'll help her do what she wants. Or help her figure out what she wants to do. I view her as a good person who's done a lot for me already. I don't see why I can't help her out to."
" I see."
Sarah had some questions for me it seems. I wondered about some of the future positions for some of the people of Paradise, when Anna began to speak to Sarah.
" Sarah, the servants have left, except for Janet and Jim. They seem to be cooking in the kitchen. Maybe now is a good time to bring it up?"
" I suppose so. I think we should know the answer."
Sarah and Anna both turned their gazes to me. What did I do this time? I think I know what it's about though.
" I'm all ears. If you want to know anything, just tell me. I'll never lie to you 2."
They smiled at that. Seems it lightened the mood somewhat. Anna began to speak to me.
" Well, when you spoke about the reasons why you wanted the Humans to stay, my eyes told me that you lied. Do you have another reason for why you wanted them to stay here?"
