I was finally sitting back in my office after sending Zack back home. The stack of letters sitting on the table with the familiar handwriting called to me. Immediately, I cracked a smile. The letters were from Asha, Sharon and Cynthia. Ever since the 3 of them split from us, they've sent us letters. I thought it was weird that I, a married man was receiving mail from unmarried women. I brought these concerns to Warrick and Aqua. Aqua replied to me with.
" Well, it should be fine. You all have a relationship as comrades in arms. Not only that, but your wives are very close to each of the 3 of them. Sarah and Cynthia are sisters, by extension, she's your Sister-in-law seeing as you're married to Sarah. Sarah, Asha and Sharon already consider themselves family and sisters to each other. It should be fine to exchange letters with them. If anyone says anything about it. Just tell My Husband and I about it!"
I eventually folded with the combined pressure of Sarah, Anna, Aqua and the growing stack of letters that continued appearing even though I never replied to the last one. So, with a weird feeling in my gut, I began to exchange letters with the 3 of them, along with Sarah and Anna of course. The letters started out being written a bit conservatively, but now it's morphed into us talking about all kinds of things as well as our daily lives. This was mostly pushed by the 3 of them. I thought anything I'd have to say would be boring as dirt or watching paint dry. To my surprise though, they continued to send letters. Not only that, but they also wanted more details about certain things. Like my likes and dislikes when it comes to women. I asked why and they simply stated it was for research for their own marriages. I gave my thoughts to them as well as what behaviors to look out for from a potential suiter. They were very unhappy when I started telling them about what to watch out for from other guys. Instead, they demanded me to tell them more about my preferences. I told Sarah and Anna about this, and they only replied with a casual.
" Everything is fine. Do as they ask. We trust them."
And like that I was forced to continue along. It wasn't all bad, I've grown to know how important family is to Cynthia and her drive to be stronger to protect the ones she loves. How well Asha is suited to governing. I mean seriously! She's almost too well suited for it. Her mother Penelope taught her extremely well. And I learned about how girly Sharon's interests are. From martial arts to the arts in general, our conversations swing from one end to another. She even revealed that she has a collection of stuffed toys... She even confessed that she named every one of them. In return however, my embarrassing stories were beginning to leak out of me as they dug for my secrets. From embarrassing moments I had as a child, to moments a few days before I ended up here in Gaia, nothing was truly safe from them. I did notice that they didn't like when I brought up Laura and her friends, however. I guess it was in bad taste to bring up a would-be invader. I apologized, but their writings showed they were always a little bent out of shape about it. I began to read the first letter of the stack.
The first one, fitting of her title as Princess, was Cynthia. The letter was dated a little over 4 weeks ago. I guess Zack took about a month to get here. I guess he stopped on his way for souvenirs. He did take extra care of his bag as he walked into Paradise. Regardless, Cynthia's letter was what I had expected from her. In other words, we were continuing our discussions about my childhood. I decided to tell her about the time my family took a vacation to the mountains that were near our hometown. It was a relaxing time, it even snowed. We ended up staying inside and watching movies as we ate hot soup and bread.
" If only I knew I had 6 months left..."
A bad habit escaped my mouth. It's not like nothing good happened when I stayed with Laura's family, but I can't really help but think of my parents when I thought of " good times" when it comes to my past. Once I begin to think about that... I can't help but think about the night I lost them. I spent so long trying not to think about them, but I've spent so much time thinking about just that in my year here. I've noticed that the pain has really began to dull in my head and chest when I think about it. No doubt this is due to my wives. I always know they're with me wherever I am. As I got back to reading Cynthia's letter, I noticed how she said she's been studying through the night. I hurriedly started to write my own letter. I replied to the questions she had for me. A continuation of learning about my past and preferences, but the most important thing I stressed was how bad pulling all-nighters were for a person. I hope she listens to me. I'd hate for her to get sick from doing that.
" And now for you..."
After I placed Cynthia's letter and my letter to the side, I grabbed the next in the stack. It was Asha. Her handwriting was the most flawless of the girls. I was always impressed at just how pretty it was. Asha's letter was similar to the past 3 or so before this one. She asked for even finer details about my childhood stories and hypothetical questions about women. Maybe she's deeply insecure. I've tried to alleviate that by complimenting her. I asked Sarah if this would be a good idea before I started doing it. She just smiled and responded with a relaxed.
" You should definitely do it."
I guess if Sarah, one of her best friends says it's a good idea, I guess I should do it. The date on the letter was a few days after Cynthia's. Asha's letter ended with another request for a story and a question about what I look for in a romance story. Once I started writing my own letter. I decided to tell her about the time I first entered kindergarten and how I spent my first day in the classroom. I then explained how I looked for good chemistry between the leads when it comes to romance stories. Once I finished that, I moved on to the next letter. It was Sharon's. I opened it and began to read the rough writing that was in the letter. It actually seemed a bit off. Her writing wasn't how it usually was. Neither the content of the letter or the pressure she usually uses to write words and letters. She still wanted my answers to her questions, she even included a little drawing of a new stuffed animal she bought recently. It was a tiny Bicorn colored purple. I was a bit puzzled by the mixed messages of the letter.
" She has a talent for drawing..."
I again, couldn't help but voice my thoughts. I wrote answers to new questions and then I spoke about how much I liked her drawing. I threw in that I hoped she was okay and Sarah, Anna and I couldn't wait to see her again. I mentioned how I hoped to invite everyone to Paradise once I finish setting up the place as a commercial hub. I finished placing Sharon's letter on top of Cynthia's and Asha's. It was then that I noticed, I had another letter. But who could it be from? I looked at it to find a familiar name.
" Les Mori...."
What could he want? We haven't spoken since the visit we all had after I fought the Hero. Is he responding to us for Liz's letter? I was curious so I opened the letter. I was surprised by what I found. It was a letter that had nothing to do with the letter Anna and I sent a little while ago. Instead, it was a letter that was making a request. Not to Lord Matthew Drake, but to John Ericsson. First, he apologized for the fight that happened between us. He says he thought about what I said and agreed with my sentiments. I guess Anna was able to melt the ice around his heart a bit. What surprised me more than that was the bottom of the letter. He asked if his son could find work in Paradise under my employ. I was surprised to find a detailed list of his son's profile, his son's name which I forgot was Lucas. His abilities were top notch, but what interested me the most was his Job.
" Spy..."
Lucas was a Demonic Spy. I immediately wrote my reply. I said to go ahead and send him to me. I've been hoping to find someone with a Spy type of Job for some time now. I knew moving forward that I'll need information from the surrounding towns and villages, so I needed a covert ops group soon. The only problem is that Demons are very battle oriented. In a country of millions, there were only 10s of 100s of spies. Even a Prince was made a spy in Warrick and Aqua's son Andros. There was a lingering thought in my mind that Les might be sending his son to see if I was actually fit for being his daughter's husband. I didn't mind, since I had nothing to hide. I eagerly got the letters straightened and prepared them for when I drop them off to Warrick tomorrow. The day ended well if I do say so myself. After the letters were done, I spent the evening with my wives relaxing.... Until a certain time in the night when we began... Other.... More private matters. By the end of the night, both of them were curled up beside me and we drifted off to sleep in each other's arms.
