We were guided into the middle of the encampment. Emily gave orders to the 4 elderly people that were with us. They all walked in different directions and began to bring the injured and sick to our location. I created 5 chairs for all of us to sit on as we waited.
" Are you sure you can heal all of them in one go?"
" I'm not, sure, but I think I can heal them all. It's only around 100 after all. As a curiosity, how many are in your group currently?"
" I haven't counted in a while, but I believe we're down to around 500."
" You started with about 600?"
" Yes... And we've lost some of them."
' I'm sorry for your losses."
Sarah and I spoke for a few moments as we waited for all of the sick and injured to gather around. Ruby and Edmon kept a watchful eye on our blind spots and Wendy was amazed by my Barrier chairs. I guess this would be good for a party trick if I kept them invisible. Like a mime or a clown from my world. I suppose the best use of it is for moments like today. I'll have to remember to do this when I go camping.
" Hey! Hey! Matthew! How did you do this!?"
" It's a Barrier spell. I just changed its shape is all. Here look."
I stretched the chair Wendy was in to show her how the spell worked. I made her go left, then right, and then I lifted her about 5 feet higher than she was before. I brought her back down after a minute of looking around from that high up.
" This is so fun!"
Wendy was laughing and enjoying the ride.
" That's something I haven't heard in a long time."
Wendy's grandmother walked up to us. Seems her job was done. I smiled at her words and brought Wendy back to a regular chair height. I also made one for her grandmother as well.
" Oh, my! Thank you, Matthew."
" You're welcome, Ma'am."
" Please, call me Pamela."
" Sure thing, Pamela."
Pamela sat down on her seat, and we all chatted happily. Except for Ruby and Edmon, who were still on guard. With time, the other 3 elderly returned to us and like that, all of the injured or sick had gathered. Altogether, it seemed to be around 100 people. I stood up and clapped my hands.
" Well, I guess it's time to get to work!"
I walked into the middle of all of the injured people and began to unleash my mana. I targeted everyone I could. It seems I can get around 25 a pop for 1 Holy Heal. I've learned something for doing all of this. I think that'll be helpful in the future. After I was done thinking, I began to work. I ended up needing to use the spell 5 times for a total of 115 people healed. That cranky old man was helping one of the elderly women who I just healed. Seems that was the reason he was so angry. At least now he can be at some kind of peace, I guess. I returned to the chair section where everyone was in a good mood.
" I can't believe you did it!"
Emily jumped at me and grabbed my hands.
" We'll be able to make it! I can lead them to Kuga!"
" Yup! You can do it Emily! Just be careful of the monsters from now on! Oh wait! Didn't Wendy say you guys were having a food problem?"
Emily's excitement came to screeching halt in front of me. She kneeled down on the ground and found a stick to push into the ground.
