Chapter 57. Fiancé's Privilege

After Anna and I had bathed, we both changed into pajamas, mine were white. Anna's were light green, complimenting her hair and eyes. Apparently, Anna had something to attend to for the morning, so she left after we returned to my room so she could sleep earlier. She left with a bit of red on her cheeks. Maybe she was a bit embarrassed from the Goddess's blessing both of us received today? Either way, I bid her good night, and she kissed my cheek. I entered my room to see a pair of light purple eyes staring warmly at me from my bed. She was in light pajamas. They were colored a light lilac. Her hair still looked a bit damp. No doubt she ran here after her bath. I decided to speak first. 

" Hi Sarah, nice night, isn't it?"

" Yes, it is, but I'm a little cold. Why don't you come and sit next to me John?"

" Sure thing Princess."

We greeted each other and spoke in teasing voices. We both smiled and laughed at each other before I sat down on the bed next to her. Without missing a beat, Sarah grabbed my hand with both of her hands and just held it. Her hands did feel a little cold. Possibly because she was fresh out of the bath.  I squeezed her hand that was locked in a grip with mine. Sarah started to whisper in my ear because we were so close to each other.

" I was so lonely that I couldn't get to fully use my special privilege after dinner tonight."

Her breath left me with a ticklish feeling in my left ear. Regardless I enjoyed how close we were. Before I was fully sucked into Sarah's pace. I felt it was only right to remind her we had to show restraint.

" Sarah, I understand how badly you want to touch and be together with me. But we have to follow some kind of decorum, as a Princess and a fiancé. I couldn't bear for anyone to look down on you because of your actions with me."

" You shouldn't worry about them, John. They already judge you for nothing more than being a human! They don't understand how warm and kind you are. How you would protect me in a heartbeat. How you ran face first into danger to save me."

" I did those things because of my feelings for you. Not because I want to be accepted by anyone."

I held Sarah's hand and wrapped my free arm around her to bring her closer to me. I began to whisper to her this time.

" I know that they don't know me or what I am like. Mostly because they refuse to even try to interact with me, but I don't want to leave an even worse impression by them thinking that I somehow am forcing you to publicly display affection for me."

Sarah began to grip my hand hard, I even felt killing intent start to bubble up. I tried my best to soothe her.

" Soon, Sarah. We won't have to hide anything. Just hold on a little longer. I promise, I'll pay you back ten-fold for your patience. And besides, I know you value the people of Diablos and because of that so do I. And I want them to know that this is a relationship that we are in by free will. Minus the Royal Decree of course."

Sarah relaxed her grip and began to speak to me.

" You're doing it for me?"

She looked at me with genuine joy on her face. I could only respond in one way.

" Of course. I want to do right by you, Warrick, Aqua and everybody else who has approved of our relationship. How they will react after Anna being involved is anyone's guess but, I'm going to do my best to make sure you both are happy in the future. So help me God, that is going to be what I do no matter what."

Sarah looked at me with surprise. I guess this is the first time I've been this straightforward with how I feel. From how she looked at me with her beautiful purple eyes, I couldn't help but kiss her. We sat there for an instant, but it felt like hours before we separated. I began to speak again.
