Yan Hao grabbed the railing and shouted, "Run!"
However, Si Nan didn't move. He gripped Yan Hao's hand tightly and strained to pull him up. Si Nan was at least twenty pounds lighter, but this pull nearly dislocated his elbow, producing a terrible cracking sound in his bones.
"Zombies are coming!" Si Nan gasped, "Don't waste time."
Yan Hao's feet dangled in the air, and he struggled to climb while repeatedly slipping against the wall. He watched as several infected zombies, their bodies aflame, stumbled towards Si Nan. His voice rose to a shrill tone, "Listen to me! Don't mind me, run!"
"How can I...not mind you..."
"Zombies are behind you!"
Si Nan was half-pulled off the rooftop, feeling the weight on his back. The zombie's bloody breath was nearly at his ear. At the same time, Yan Hao's feet finally found a foothold on the window sill. In the nick of time, he pulled himself up with Si Nan's help.
Yan Hao swiftly flipped over the railing like a whirlwind, grabbed Si Nan around the waist, and tumbled several meters in an instant.
"Are you okay?!" Yan Hao exclaimed.
In the nick of time, Si Nan narrowly avoided the zombie's teeth but, due to Yan Hao's sudden shove, took several seconds to catch his breath. "I'm...fine."
Yan Hao pressed himself against Si Nan, using his left elbow to support himself on the ground, while his right hand firmly turned Si Nan's face toward the side. There were injuries behind his ear and on his neck, but a gentle touch confirmed there was no bleeding. They were just abrasions from the rough tumble on the concrete ground. Si Nan's internal organs seemed to have returned to their rightful place after that chaotic roll.
"No bite." Yan Hao muttered softly as he buried his face into Si Nan's neck, "Thank goodness. No bite."
Due to the presence of glands that could be temporarily marked, a heavy impact would have been fatal. The back of the neck was one of the most sensitive and critical areas of an Omega's body. If Yan Hao were an Alpha, that touch would have been textbook sexual harassment, and Si Nan's initial reaction would have been to push him away and kick him out.
"You..."
Si Nan had just managed to speak, but Yan Hao suddenly raised his head, gazing deep into Si Nan's eyes. Before he could discern the emotions behind that gaze, Yan Hao pulled out his knife and turned around, striking down the zombie's head. The decapitated body fell to the ground.
"Run!" Yan Hao pulled Si Nan to his feet. "Get down from the rooftop, back to the underground storage. Hurry!"
The rooftop had turned into a slaughterhouse. It was filled with people engulfed in flames, screaming in agony, and angry zombies attacking. Many people were drenched in blood, crying and running toward the safe corridor door they had entered from. In the chaos, countless individuals stumbled and fell, trampled to death before they could get up.
"Zhou Rong!" Si Nan shouted.
Zhou Rong used a fireman's axe to fend off the zombies approaching the entrance of the safe corridor, but within half a second of pulling out the axe, two or three clearly infected individuals rushed into the corridor, mingling with the crowd. Si Nan gripped Zhou Rong's wrist, which was splattered with putrid blood, and yelled, "Let's go! Don't worry about them, we can't control this anymore!"
Zhou Rong's eyes were bloodshot.
"Let's go, Rong-ge! They've all been infected!" Chun Cao ran against the tide and said, "Hurry! Back to the underground garage!"
