Behind the trees, hurried footsteps, Zhou Rong, along with more than ten search and rescue team members, arrived in an instant, shouting, "Si Nan!"
Si Nan had strangled so many people, but today was the first time he came close to snapping someone's throat. His face turned purple, and he suffered a spasm in his lungs. He clutched Tan Hao's elbow, and after a few seconds, he was getting weaker due to lack of oxygen.
Zhou Rong took a step forward in panic but then forced himself to stop. He said, "Let him go, Tan Hao. What are you trying to do?"
The situation was tense, with Si Nan only about ten meters away from Zhou Rong. It felt like an insurmountable chasm separating them. Zhou Rong stared intently into Tan Hao's eyes and made a discreet gesture to the rescue team, signaling "sniper ready." However, before the team's snipers could reposition quietly, Tan Hao sneered and said, "You want to snipe me? It's useless. The visibility here is poor, and there are many obstacles. Are you not afraid that a single shot will kill both me and the antibody carrier?"
The snipers froze.
"...You should let go a bit, or you'll strangle him," Zhou Rong almost squeezed the words out of his teeth. "Calm down, Tan Hao. Tell me, who ordered you to do this, Romuel? Or other people from Country A? Did they offer you any conditions? Did you know in advance about the zombie night attack on the camp?"
Tan Hao didn't respond. "Throw the guns over," he ordered.
Zhou Rong said sternly, "Tan Hao!"
"——It's the antibody," Yan Hao suddenly blurted out.
All eyes turned to him, and if you paid close attention, you could see Tan Hao's eye twitch slightly.
Yan Hao asked, "There's an issue with the antibody, right?"
This time, Tan Hao hesitated under everyone's gaze for a few seconds before shaking his head and saying, "There's no need to talk about it. Count to three, everyone toss your guns over. One, two..."
Zhou Rong swung the submachine gun out of his hand, making a crisp sound. Then, one by one, the sounds of guns being thrown echoed.
Si Nan struggled, and in the next second, a gun barrel was pressed against his temple.
"Don't move, or I can use your body as a bargaining chip," Zhou Rong threatened.
"Do you think you can still escape from this isolated and desolate canyon with a reputation for unresponsiveness?" Zhou Rong said coldly. "Or do you naively believe that the party you're dealing with will keep their word?"
Tan Hao chuckled briefly, "That's my problem, Captain Zhou."
He held Si Nan's throat tightly, like a vice, his grip expertly controlling the oxygen supply—enough to avoid suffocation but not enough to allow strong resistance. He dragged Si Nan backward.
Zhou Rong and his team immediately followed. Tan Hao shouted, "Stop! If I see anyone within two hundred meters, I'll immediately break both of his hands!"
Zhou Rong's face became very ugly.
"You won't see me again," Tan Hao said coldly. "Goodbye."
He completely hid behind Si Nan and gradually disappeared from everyone's sight.
Only when the sound of footsteps faded into the forest did Zhou Rong take a quick step forward, grabbing a submachine gun and muttering, "Follow them!"
The trees and vegetation grew denser, almost blocking out the sky, and everything around was dominated by a powerful, dark green. Every step was on thick layers of decaying leaves and mud.
