The iron gate, covered with high-voltage electric wires, was pulled apart, and the blue-and-white riot control vehicle slowly drove in, under the suspicious gaze of the guards.

In front of the vehicle, a vast military base was hidden amidst the hills, with the reinforced roofs reflecting faint white light under the sky.

In the spacious meeting room, a graceful figure sat at the end of a long table. The glass door slid open silently, and a guard walked in, leaning down to whisper by her ear, "They have arrived."

The figure turned around from the chair's armrest and said, "Let them in."

—Surprisingly, it was a young woman with a very youthful appearance.

She had a slender figure, dressed casually, with shoulder-length hair tied in a ponytail. If you ignored the four hideous red claw marks on her left cheek, you could even describe her face as beautiful.

The guard lowered his head and retreated.

A moment later, the glass door opened again, and the guard gestured, "Please."

The three uninvited guests from the riot control vehicle entered the meeting room, standing behind the long table—two men and a woman, all of them white.

All of them were Alphas.

"Well," the woman with golden hair and blue eyes, who had a very prominent figure, used her flirtatious gaze to look them up and down and said, "Omegas... Now, this is a rare sight."

The tall man next to her, who stood nearly two meters tall and seemed like a rock lying on the ground, didn't speak. The leading white man in front, wearing sunglasses, also didn't respond. From behind the long table, the woman examined them without a word. The room remained quiet for a few seconds, then she spoke slowly:

"Colonel Romuel."

The leading man took off his sunglasses, revealing a pair of gray-blue eyes, and spoke in fluent Chinese with impeccable pronunciation, "Nice to meet you, Miss Chen Yajing. Thank you very much for taking the time to meet us."

With that, he courteously inclined his body, although it did not exceed twenty degrees.

"No need for pleasantries," Chen Yajing interrupted the formalities with a wave of her hand and asked directly, "Who are you looking for?"

Romuel extended his hand, and his rock-like subordinate handed over a leather envelope, and then he approached and placed it in front of Chen Yajing.

"...The Chinese government and military no longer exist. All national institutions have disintegrated. All actions are now carried out in the name of individuals," Romuel said.

"In that case, what is your purpose in coming here at great risk?" Chen Yajing tapped the leather envelope and asked, "What is special about this person, and what is your relationship with them?"

Romuel's gray-blue eyes revealed an indescribable, somewhat unsettling glint.

"He is my brother," he said.

Chen Yajing raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Forgive my presumption, Colonel Romuel. You don't look like someone who has an Asian brother, and you certainly don't seem like someone who would traverse a world overrun by zombies for the sake of brotherly love... If there is any secret about this person, you'd better tell us now, or our cooperation is going to become very difficult."

Romuel smiled and asked, "Are you threatening me, Miss Chen?"

He suddenly drew a pocket-sized pistol from his sleeve, and with lightning speed, pressed it against Chen Yajing's temple!
