After a long silence, Wu Xinyan finally felt she couldn't hold back anymore. She cleared her throat, and her voice sounded like a fragile thread:
"Uh, Captain Zhou..."
"How about you put that chocolate in..." Her sentence fell short as Si Nan emerged from under the blanket, put on his coat, and pushed the door open.
Wu Xinyan was left dumbfounded once again, unable to recover her senses.
"What are you doing?" Si Nan spoke in a calm tone. "Hurry, I'm short on time."
Si Nan was only wearing a slim black police t-shirt inside, his arms crossed, and the riot gear jacket draped over his shoulders. The expression on his face was very similar to when Zhou Rong had first met him, ignoring the water handed to him in the armored vehicle and effortlessly disarming Yan Hao. They shared the same posture and demeanor.
Zhou Rong sighed inwardly, placing the chocolate in Si Nan's coat pocket, then turned to leave.
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five...
As he counted down, Zhou Rong could hear Si Nan's voice from behind when he reached zero:
"Are you alright?"
Zhou Rong stopped in his tracks but didn't turn around, letting out a sigh that was neither light nor heavy.
"..." Si Nan finally stepped forward, his long and thick eyebrows furrowing with suspicion as he scrutinized Zhou Rong. "Are you okay?"
Zhou Rong responded in a dejected tone, "Little Suan."
Si Nan corrected, "There's no 'little' in my name."
"Comrade Xiao Si." Zhou Rong quickly changed his address and asked, "Do you still consider us friends?"
This question was quite complex. It mainly stemmed from the fact that Si Nan had very limited interactions with other Omegas, making it challenging to verify whether "there could never be genuine friendship between an Alpha and an Omega" was a false premise or not. However, he had interacted with numerous Alphas, and even though he had lost his memories, the years of vigilance and aversion had remained deeply ingrained in his subconscious.
Si Nan squinted at Zhou Rong.
Zhou Rong had a height of 1.9 meters, and his muscular build wasn't overly developed. Instead, it was lean and well-proportioned, thanks to his years of special training. These qualities were quite apparent in Si Nan as well, although his muscle mass was relatively thinner. Zhou Rong had broader shoulders, exuding a powerful Alpha aura.
Zhou Rong's facial features had a dash of subtle charm, especially when he raised an eyebrow and smiled, his unmistakable rebelliousness was quite evident. This countenance was quite different from the upright and heroic military image that people generally associated with. If he were presented as a front-facing image for the military, his unique charisma would likely be scrutinized and criticized.
However, outside of the military uniform, he was more like a dashing entrepreneur, someone who would attract numerous admiring gazes in various social settings.
He was different from others, and this sudden thought came to Si Nan's mind. He couldn't explain where this strange perception came from, but under the moonlight, there was indeed an indescribable feeling, a sudden tremor deep in his heart.
"..." Si Nan shifted his gaze away and spoke slowly, "Yes."
Zhou Rong lowered his head almost to Si Nan's face, their noses just inches apart, and they could each see their reflections in the other's eyes.
