At the moment he entered the water, Zhou Rong felt only one thing: it was so cold.

The underground water was bone-chilling, and he swam upstream, flexing his muscles to warm up. Using the light from his helmet's headlamp, he could see a short distance below, where Zhang Yingjie was entangled by two large, pale figures, struggling to break free from the grip of the zombies.

Fearful of hitting Zhang Yingjie, Zhou Rong aimed his gun at the zombies only after making sure he was shooting at a safe angle. However, shooting underwater caused the bullets to veer off target, hitting the back of the zombie to little effect.

It was completely futile!

The violent movements were rapidly depleting their oxygen supply, and Zhang Yingjie couldn't hold his breath any longer. A stream of bubbles escaped from his lungs, and he sank silently into the depths.

Zhou Rong cursed under his breath, and without hesitation, he dived down. One zombie was pulled back by the strong water currents, while the other continued chasing Zhang Yingjie further down.

Zhou Rong used the butt of his gun to strike the zombie, causing it to recoil heavily, slamming into the elevator shaft wall and bouncing back. The zombie, with its almost disintegrated face, moved closer again. Zhou Rong pressed the gun barrel against its upper jaw and fired a burst of bullets, shattering its head into pieces.

The zombie's black blood trailed behind as it rapidly sank. Zhou Rong felt his oxygen running out, but he couldn't afford to hesitate. He quickly swam towards the direction where Zhang Yingjie had disappeared.

In many drowning situations, a well was the least likely place for a rescue. The smooth walls offered no foothold, and the confined space made it difficult to struggle to the surface. Swimming deeper, like Zhou Rong did, would increase water pressure and quickly deplete oxygen.

His lungs spasmed violently, and Zhou Rong clenched his teeth, holding onto the last bit of air. Suddenly, there was a strong surge of water beside him. The zombie that had previously chased Zhang Yingjie surfaced!

Zhou Rong's mind had one last thought: "Damn!"

His vision darkened, and he was about to lose consciousness completely.

Splash!

A bright light shone from above, and a figure swiftly dived down, passing by Zhou Rong.

Zhou Rong was on the brink of exhaustion, his vision fading. With his last effort, he opened his eyes and saw the person who had come to his rescue. They had a knife clenched in their teeth and were lunging towards the zombie with a beautiful, ice-cold face illuminated by the flashlight.

It was Si Nan.

Zhou Rong was barely conscious when Si Nan helped him float back to the surface. Zhou Rong was already at his limits, but he managed to breathe. Then he lost consciousness entirely.

A sudden voice brought Zhou Rong back to reality.

"He still has a pulse..."

"Hold on!"

"He moved! He moved!"

Zhou Rong opened his eyes, coughing up a mouthful of water.

The sensation was overwhelming, and it felt like he was tearing his lungs to shreds. After a while, Zhou Rong managed to stop coughing, breathing heavily. He croaked, "What happened to Yingjie?"

Chun Cao said with excitement, "Rong Ge, you're okay! Oh, Si Nan?"

Zhou Rong turned his head and saw Si Nan lying next to him. He was soaked through, pale, and unconscious.
