Next day.

Zhou Rong woke up in the morning light, stretched lazily, and bent down to kiss Si Nan's sleeping cheek. Feeling refreshed, he got out of bed and went to work.

He took all the tools he could use, divided the food and water into daily rations, and carefully planned his travel route on the map, marking possible points for resupply. The sun peeped out briefly from behind the thick clouds, and Zhou Rong stood in the front yard, feeling the humidity in the air. It seemed like it might snow soon.

The forests, rivers, and distant villages were shrouded in a thick mist and cloud cover, creating an eerie quietness in the world.

It wouldn't be a good idea to set out if it snowed.

Zhou Rong had a quick meal with canned food, toasted some bread on a small gas stove, and prepared sweet milk powder for Si Nan's breakfast. He went to wake him up but found Si Nan still sound asleep, lying in bed peacefully.

He had indeed been sleeping a lot recently, which might be a form of self-recovery after reaching a certain level of physical weakness. When he worked at the chemical plant, he couldn't sleep for more than six hours a day and was always very alert even in his dreams. He would wake up immediately if someone approached him. It was quite different from the man currently snoring lightly under Zhou Rong's watch.

Zhou Rong pinched his nose and called his name softly, but Si Nan swatted his hand away, rolled over, and revealed a piece of olive-green fabric under him.

Zhou Rong's gaze froze when he saw it.

It was the T-shirt he had taken off the night before, and it had been hung by the door. However, this morning, it was nowhere to be found. It turned out Si Nan had taken it, bundled it up, and hidden it under the blanket.

"Little sneak thief," Zhou Rong chuckled, reaching for the T-shirt.

He tried to pull it away.

...But he couldn't pull it away.

Zhou Rong teased, "Comrade Si Nan, are you trying to forcefully obtain a love token?" He changed from pulling to tugging, and just as he exerted some force, Si Nan, who was still half-awake, suddenly sat up and grabbed Zhou Rong's waist.

Zhou Rong was confused for a moment and then Si Nan used a rapid hand motion!

Bang!

Zhou Rong fell onto the bed, almost dazed. Then, he felt Si Nan moving slightly by his side, finding a more comfortable position, and quickly falling back asleep, cradled in Zhou Rong's arms.

Zhou Rong was left speechless, his gaze slowly lowering.

He saw Si Nan's serene and peaceful face in the morning light, with warm and fragrant breath. It was as if he was a little angel... a little angel who could perform a powerful hand throw in his sleep and almost give an Alpha a concussion.

"Si Nan," Zhou Rong stammered, "Do you... want to wake up first and calm down?"

Si Nan unconsciously licked his lips.

Zhou Rong found it difficult to breathe, and his heart rate increased. He felt dizzy for a moment, unsure if he had a real concussion or if he was simply dazzled by the sight of Si Nan's slightly reddened lips. He took a deep breath, trying to use his willpower to keep the heated blood from flowing down, but the pervasive and increasingly intense sweet scent made him short of breath.

It was pheromones.

However, it was different from the pheromones that had surrounded Si Nan last night. If last night's scent was akin to a mild honey flavor, today's scent was sweet but somewhat fishy. When smelled up close, it even felt a bit stimulating.
