"Si Nan!"

"Si Xiao Nan—!"

"Brother Rong has come to pick you up, come out!"

Shouts echoed on the dark streets, where you couldn't see your own fingers. Zhou Rong put down the megaphone he had just retrieved from the store's ruins and surveyed his surroundings through the infrared. Human-shaped objects quickly gathered within a radius of a hundred meters, densely packed with ghostly figures as far as the eye could see.

Zhou Rong took out several zombies that had been alerted from behind, fired a grappling hook, and swiftly climbed up a utility pole.

In that moment when he left the ground, the zombies surged and blindly reached up with all their might.

Shouting back and forth on the streets was perhaps the most dangerous and least efficient method at the moment. Zhou Rong knew the best course of action was to find a safe and hidden hiding place, rest and keep warm, wait for dawn, and then start moving when visibility improved. But he knew that Si Nan couldn't wait.

He couldn't survive in his current dreadful state, all alone in the city's most dangerous heart, during this lethal night.

Zhou Rong took a deep breath of the cold air, using the piercing sensation in his lungs to stay alert. He squinted his eyes like a wild beast hunting in the deep night. "Potential antisocial personality, schizophrenia, unpredictable behavior. Avoid using any stimulating methods to restore his sanity..."

"Hybrid Omega," he murmured.

His gaze turned towards the void, back to that afternoon when they first met, trapped in the parking garage, where a young man with his whole body tightly concealed by a motorcycle jacket and helmet looked up from the street and met his gaze.

"Is it you?" Zhou Rong asked softly, just as he had done countless times, as if he wanted to pinch that soft cheek. However, all he felt under his touch was the bone-chilling cold wind of winter.

"Brother Rong, you're wrong. I didn't mean to look down on Omegas, and I'm willing to respect your opinion."

"If you're willing to come back..."

"As long as you come back, Brother Rong, I'll wait for you to choose yourself..."

Zhou Rong closed his eyes and allowed himself to indulge in regret and sorrow for a brief moment. A few seconds later, he opened his eyes and forced himself back into battle mode. He fired a grappling hook from the top of the utility pole and swiftly moved to the next block.

Meanwhile, one kilometer away.

At a certain residence.

Boots tread on the broken glass covering the ground, making a slight rustling sound.

At the same time, as the sound of the movement rang out, a shadow in the corner of the room stirred. In the darkness, a half-decayed, gray-black face turned, as if it had caught the scent of fresh human flesh. Its murky eye rolled over.

A figure stumbled into the room, shivering in the biting cold, as if completely unaware of the deadly danger lurking in the corner.

"Ugh..."

The half-decayed chest cavity hissed incessantly, and the zombie swayed to its feet. Its predatory instincts surged rapidly under the sweet pheromones of the Omega, and it pounced on the newcomer, biting down hard!

The taste of flesh and blood instantly filled the rotting mouth. However, the zombie didn't have time to take a second bite. Its cervical vertebrae emitted a crisp sound.
