Yan Hao concealed himself entirely within the treetops. A low voice came through the earpiece: "Can you take the shot?"
"No," Yan Hao whispered, "Damn, his position is too perfect."
Through the scope, Romuel was almost entirely hidden, thanks to either the angle or the car door blocking his head. There were barely any openings. It was a natural instinct honed through years of professional training.
Just from this perspective, it was truly impressive. Even Yan Hao found it hard to be as perfectly concealed.
In the lush trees behind the hill, a tiny shadow, no larger than a mung bean, stirred.
Yan Hao said, "Zhou, stop fidgeting in the scope; are you trying to tempt me into taking a shot at you?"
Zhou Rong replied, "Give it a rest. Your skills are nowhere near up to par, and you want to take a shot at me? I could easily take you down."
Yan Hao challenged, "I've never tried; how do you know my skills are lacking? How about after this operation, we settle it between us?"
Zhou Rong accepted, "Sure, let's give it a try. But you better be careful not to expose yourself. If the big brother-in-law catches you, you'll be in deep trouble."
The channel fell silent, and all that could be heard was the sound of their breathing. After a long while, Chun Cao finally cleared his throat, "Um, sorry... there's nothing going on between the team leader and deputy team leader. Over."
Down the hill, Tan Hao pressed his gun against Si Nan's forehead and demanded, "I've brought the person! Where are the goods?"
Romuel opened the shockproof case. Inside were three test tubes arranged side by side, emitting a faint blue glow in the sunlight. Romuel took one of the test tubes and nonchalantly tossed it up and down, asking with a smile, "Noah! When you boarded the plane with this briefcase six months ago, did you ever imagine that you'd end up back in my hands, together with the case?"
Si Nan was pale from being strangled, and he couldn't say a word.
"Relax, let him talk," Romuel instructed Tan Hao. "If you're worried about him escaping, you can always shoot him in the leg."
Although Tan Hao knew Romuel was somewhat sadistic in this regard, he didn't expect him to say something as casually as shooting someone in the leg. It caught him off guard.
Romuel continued, "I've said it before, I only need a live Noah Chong. Maimed or disfigured, it doesn't matter. Do you not believe me?"
He looked at Si Nan and asked with a smile, "Do you believe me?"
Tan Hao eased his elbow, and Si Nan let out a cough that could shatter the heavens, struggling to stop. He hoarsely replied, "You're insane..."
Romuel seemed satisfied and said, "It looks like you understand me better."
He casually spun the test tube high into the air and caught it smoothly. Then, he asked, "Want it?"
"Without the antibody, I'll kill Si Nan and detonate the explosives, ending it for everyone," Tan Hao said coldly.
Romuel was about to say something but was interrupted by Si Nan's stern voice. "Even if you get the antibody, how do you know it's genuine? I've told you, I don't even remember where the antibody was dropped. How could he have found it so quickly? He's just using a fake one to trick you. If you hand me over, they'll kill you immediately."
Tan Hao was taken aback.
"I told you, there's no way you could get it so quickly. Noah's words are all lies. Do you believe him now?" Si Nan's words were sharp and clear. Hearing it in his ear, Tan Hao hesitated.
