"If I get tired of flying, can I sit behind you on your horse?" the fairy asked me with a grin, while his light blue wings sprinkled glittering fairy dust behind him.

"You won't get tired from flying, but from talking," I replied annoyed. For the past two hours, he had been talking non-stop, telling me everything that had happened to him from the day he was born until today. No wonder his mother wanted to marry him off to a fairy woman despite his pollen allergy... she probably couldn't stand his constant chatter anymore. Suspiciously, I looked at the trail of fairy dust behind us.

"Are you leaving a trail so that you can be rescued?" I asked him, and he giggled again... he was in such a good mood.

"Why would anyone rescue me? You're not kidnapping me," he laughed, and I looked down somewhat dejected... that had been my plan before he willingly joined me.

"But they will find you this way." I pointed out the conspicuous glitter.

"No, no, it will disappear... it only lasts a few minutes... but what surprises me more is that you can see it. We're not even married yet," he pondered.

"Why shouldn't I see it?" I looked at him surprised.

"Because only fairies can see fairy dust, members of other races can only see the dust of their partner. Do you perhaps have some fairy blood in you?" he asked me curiously, but I shook my head.

"No, and I've never seen fairy dust on another fairy either, even though I was friends with some," I answered bewildered.

"Maybe we are destined for each other... how romantic," he swooned, and I made a face in irritation. Why, Godess? Did I really have to spend eternity with this hyperactive bumblebee?

"Yes, that's probably it," I said sarcastically, which made him laugh again. He flew closer and smelled my hair, causing me to look at him questioningly.

"You smell like an elf, are you an elf?" he asked and left me amazed.

"You can smell the elf in me that is three generations back? I'm not an elf, but my mother was half-elf," I explained, and he smiled proudly.

"But... what are you then? You have a scent about you, sweet and yet so elegant... no race smells like that." I had forgotten that fairies had almost as good a sense of smell as Lycans and Dragons.

"You've never met my people... but you've surely heard of us," I said mysteriously, thinking he would surely find out when my fangs pierced into him and turned him into one of us. We were getting closer to the barrier, and he looked around confused.

"This doesn't go any further... the terrain is too rugged back there, where are you going?" he asked me, and I held out my hand to him.

"Sit behind me and hold on tight," I instructed him, and he behind me, settling down. We stepped through the barrier, and instantly I heard him gasp. The Hidden Forest could overwhelm anyone with its beauty. Dark pines provided shade, creating a somewhat gloomy atmosphere, but scattered throughout were small clearings where the breathtaking flowers, some of them over two meters tall, were bathed in sunlight, enhancing their vibrant colors even more. This interplay between darkness and light, dark trees, moss-covered ground, and lush bright grass with a colorful variety never failed to leave me in awe.

"W-where are we? Why have I never seen anything like this before? It's incredible," he spoke faster with excitement, his eyes widening in wonder.

"This is my home... at least a small part of it... the Hidden Forest," I explained to him, and for the first time that day, my voice sounded both proud and loving.

"I'm in the Hidden Forest? It's real, not just a legend? But... doesn't it belong to the vampires who went extinct years ago?" as he bombarded me with questions, his eyes darted around, taking in everything like a sponge, not noticing my grin.

"Oh, we're not extinct. We just retreated here... to heal," I let him know, and finally he looked at me.

"A real vampire... whoa, your eyes, they glow red... you look even more beautiful with them," w-what... I wanted to scare him, prepare him for his fate, and what did he do? He told me how beautiful I looked with threatening red eyes...
