San PoV

Three days later, we sat down to finalize the plan. We had needed the time before, as Yeosang had only just changed me and Wooyoung and it had taken us longer to recover due to his extremely mixed blood. We decided that we would stay out of everything, as this would only be a reconnaissance mission. We wanted to find out when the Alpha was gone, how well protected they were and how we could get through with as few casualties to the Lycans as possible. Fortunately, I was able to convince them all that the Lycans themselves were not the enemy, only the cruel Alpha. Lycans weren't actually interested in fighting and certainly not in ruling over the other races, but the Alpha was completely mad in his hunger for power. He could not accept that he was getting older and older, that his life would soon be over and that he had no heir. He tyrannized his own people the most and broke the rules and laws that had existed since time immemorial. So he was not allowed to kill his mates or his daughters, or to exterminate or banish the male Lycans with alpha potential. With us, there was no birthright to the alpha title, it was fought for. The strongest wolf became the pack leader. But because the alpha systematically eliminated potential competition, he had no challengers despite his age.

It went against all our principles, because our alpha was supposed to be the strongest and not the cruelest. The pack suffered greatly under him, members kept disappearing because they had made critical comments or done something else that displeased the alpha. After my aunt was executed by him because she didn't give him an heir, my father spoke out against him and almost became a victim himself. The alpha came to our house to punish him and saw me on the verge of becoming an adult wolf and became furious when he realized my potential. He demanded me in exchange for my father and he released me, thinking I would be trained as a warrior, but the alpha had other plans. He had me poisoned when I had to move into the pack house. It was only because my mother suspected something and warned me not to eat anything that was specially served to me that I survived this treachery. However, I pretended to have eaten and fell to the floor unconscious while playing. My father was the healer to whom I was then taken and who immediately realized what was going on. He pronounced me dead after giving me herbs that made me sleep deeply and claimed that he had buried me, but my family had smuggled me out of the pack territory. I hadn't seen my family since then, but at least I was alive.

"We need to see if we can find someone we can talk to in secret, someone with insight into the daily routines." Yeosang said just then and I thought hard about who was close enough to the Alpha but hated him. I frowned and looked around before starting to smile.

"I know who can give us information... She has nothing to say, isn't very guarded or noticed, but knows everything about him and hates him to bits... His Luna..." I then explained and saw Yeosang nod appreciatively.

"Well... we might have to stay away for a few days, since we don't know yet when a good time is to approach her and we need several hours of flying to get one way. I don't want to know flying back and forth all the time." Yeosang informed.

"I'm coming with you." Wooyoung insisted stubbornly with his arms crossed in front of his chest and Yeosang rolled his eyes as the two of them had been discussing it since we woke up as vampires.

"We can station ourselves at the witches' castle until we succeed, it's less than an hour from the pack territory. Then he can at least come with us." I suggested, as I honestly didn't want to be without the nymph for days on end and Yeosang sighed.

"All right... come with us then...."
