It was already dark when we finally landed after several hours of flying. Hongjoong had long since fallen asleep and there was no sign of Wooyoung either, while I was too excited to be even remotely tired. Seonghwa gently lowered me into the courtyard of the brightly lit castle and Hongjoong immediately raised his head sleepily. While Seonghwa waited patiently until he had rubbed his eyes and slowly slid off him, Yeosang simply transformed and Wooyoung landed roughly on the sand.

"Sangie...." he called out sulkily, which made me giggle and eased my tense mood a little. He got up and patted his pants before landing in the dirt again, because a plump, older woman just ran over him and then hugged Hongjoong, squeezing him tightly to her sizable breasts.

"My baby... My orb told me you're coming today!" she exclaimed, while Hongjoong was visibly on the verge of choking...

"Eomma..." came from him in a tortured and muffled voice.

"Do I want to know which of her orbs she meant?" asked Wooyoung, getting to his feet for the second time.

"My crystal ball, you fuckfish." she grumbled at him and my eyes grew wide while Yeosang almost choked on his spit from laughing.

"Nymph." Wooyoung pouted and she just waved it off.

"Has scales, makes everyone fuzzy, fuckfish..." she said.

"That's what I'll call you forever now." Yeosang giggled

"Eomma... leave my friends alone." complained Hongjoong, who had now freed himself, pulling the shyly smiling Seonghwa to his side, who had also transformed in the meantime, and Hongjoong's mother's face brightened.

"Awe... a dragon? You've taken on a dragon as a companion? And such a cute one at that." she said and pulled the desperate-looking Seonghwa into her clasp as well.

"Nice to meet you too..." he pressed out and I laughed at the look on his face. She finally noticed me and her entire demeanor changed immediately.

"Your Highness... I'm so sorry... I shouldn't have spoken like that in front of you..." she bowed her head and wanted to get down on her knees in front of me, but I held her arm and stopped her.

"No, no... all good... but can you tell me where my mother is?" I asked her and saw her eyes fill with pity.

"The queen isn't here... she's been missing for years..." she said, much more quietly and I felt my heart sink.

"Where is she?" Hongjoong asked, as I couldn't make a sound.

"We don't know... we're looking for her... we think the Lycans took her." she explained.

"And now what?" asked Hongjoong after he had told his mother everything. We sat in their chambers in the castle and she put a hot tea in front of each of us.

"Your mother may not be here... but, your grandmother is there, ruling in absentia... I'm sure she knows why Queen Amella hid you. But one thing I can say... the vampires were never our enemies and the Lycans betrayed us. I can't imagine that she hid you from the vampires." she explained.

"But you were part of the attack..." Yeosang said bitterly.

"Just like the dragons... you didn't kill a vampire... you only overcame the fortress and brought the enemy in, and we... we didn't kill a single vampire either...we only broke through their defenses.... both races had too many scruples to kill vampires, but not enough to stop the Lycans... we got carried away just like you did." she defended herself, but Seonghwa took her hand and shook his head.

"That's where you're wrong... the dragons actually helped the vampires... how do you think so many survived? How our queen survived?" he clarified and she hung her head, knowing her son's mate wasn't just a dragon... her son was no longer just a witch...

"You are mistaken... it wasn't just the dragons secretly siding with the vampires.... my son... your father... he died saving your companion's life." I heard a voice coming from the door. Astonished, I turned around and saw an old woman. She looked graceful and wise, I didn't know how else to describe her... friendly came to mind as she smiled warmly at me... my grandmother...
