"Shouldn't we cloak ourselves so slowly?" I asked my dragon companion when we were not too far from Lycan territory. He just snorted in reply and orange fairy dust glittered all around us.
"Warn me, Yeosang..." I complained as I sneezed for the third time because I hadn't protected my mouth or nose, which is probably why my teeth were glistening orange.
"But it's much funnier this way." I heard the dragon giggle, which made me pout.
"So, the Lycans can't smell or see us anymore? Can they hear us?" I asked so that I could prepare myself.
"They can't smell us, they can't see us from a distance, or in the sky, but if we're right in front of one, they'll be able to see us. They can hear us too, so you'd better be quiet when approaching your area," he explained to me.
Neither of us spoke for the rest of the flight; we didn't want to run the risk of the Lycans on patrol detecting us with their extremely good hearing. Less than ten minutes later, I felt us crossing the border, the familiar feeling of home, the warmth that my family evoked in me coursed through my body and only then did I realize how much I missed them. Unfortunately, I probably wouldn't see them again today, we were just going to scout the area and gather information, though I hoped I might see one of my parents. Yeosang flew over the village, circling silently as we both scanned the area. There didn't seem to be any guards in the village, they were probably all at the borders, but I hardly saw anyone outside this late at night.
"The Alpha's pack house is brightly lit and judging by the music and smell, they're in there partying with alcohol.... I think it's safe if we land and stay in the shadows. " I heard Yeosang's voice in my head now and was once again amazed at how he combined all the skills that the different races had mastered.
"Land in the clearing behind the sunflower field, no one can see us from there." I replied in my head and he immediately followed my instruction, which made me smile, as he usually set the tone.
"Don't get a flight of fancy." he whispered as he changed shape, then kissed me possessively before turning back to look around.
"That looks like a dungeon back there, only above the ground." he remarked, frowning, and I followed his gaze.
"That's what we call a prison... Lycans don't have basements, we hate being below ground level." I explained, sensing his pitying look. I'm sure he remembered where he'd picked me up and how long I'd been locked up in the witches' dungeon.
"Let's go and have a look, maybe my grandmother is there," he asked me and I nodded. This building wasn't guarded either, which made me shake my head, the alpha felt far too safe in his own skin, he probably didn't even think that there could be an attack here, but his overconfidence worked in our favor. We crept around the building once before opening the door leading to the cells as quietly as possible. There were two cells in the first room, one was empty, but in the other you could see a figure curled up on the straw-covered floor. There was nothing else, no cot, no bed, just the cold floor with a little straw underneath, which immediately made me angry. Yeosang walked closer and looked at the person who was now slowly sitting up, noticing the eyes on him. It wasn't Yeosang's grandmother, nor the Luna we had hoped to speak to, instead an old friend was now looking at me with warm eyes that had tears in them when he saw me.
"Yunho..."
