"All right, night shift done, Halstead." Hailey spoke as the partners walked down the stairs. She nudged his shoulder, laughing as she was him roll his eyes at her. "Hey, speaking off - does Riley know?""Know what?"
"Jay." Hailey spoke in a warning tone, tilting her head to the side as Platt called them over - interrupting their conversation.
"Halstead, come over here." She waved the detective over, watching him approach her desk. Platt handed him a stack of letters and large envelopes. "I've been holding onto these for Mitchell, but - not that I snooped- there's a couple of hearing dates in there so someone has to handle them now."
Jay grabbed them from the woman, "All right, I'll handle it until she gets back. Thanks, Trudy." He sorted through them, waving back at the desk Sergeant before he went back to Hailey's side to follow out of the building.
"So, as I was asking, did you tell Riley?" Hailey tried asking again as she walked by his side until they reached his pick up truck.
"She doesn't have to know."
Hailey sighed, "Jay, come on. You can't hide this from her, not right now."
Jay rolled his eyes, "I'll see you later, Hailey." He pulled the door on the driver's side open, stepping in. She watched him drive away, shaking her head before she went to her own car.

Jay drove back to his apartment heading in right away. He put his things down, glancing around the living room for his pregnant fiancée. He frowned when he noticed she was nowhere to be seen, "Riley?"
His voice resonated through the apartment, yet there was no response. After taking off his coat and laying it on the back of the couch, he searched room to room - not finding her anywhere until he reached their baby's room. His eyes fell on her sitting in the couch sofa, holding a book in her hands as she was sleeping deeply.
The corner of his lips curved up at the sight, although he didn't really like how she was bent - supposing there was no way she could be comfortable. He bent down, securing her into his arms before bringing her to their bedroom. He rested her gently on the mattress, pulling a blanket over her still sleeping body. He carefully placed her pregnancy pillow around her body so she'd be comfortable, none of his movements waking her.
He took the opportunity to take a shower before joining her in the bed for a short nap. Jay wrapped his arms around the young woman, securing his head in the crook of her neck before leaving a gentle kiss on her skin. She stirred a little in her sleep but luckily stayed asleep.
Riley awoke some time later, surprised to be in her fiancé's arms since she vividly remembered falling asleep in the sofa earlier in the morning. She stayed still in Jay's embrace for a while, deciding to enjoy it for a while before getting up and try to do something remotely productive of her day. She knew Jay had just finished a night shift, so she didn't want to bother him while he slept.
