"You know Kim took Makayla in? Apparently her aunt couldn't handle it anymore

"You know Kim took Makayla in? Apparently her aunt couldn't handle it anymore." Riley told Jay as she walked out of the bathroom with only a towel wrapped around her body. She'd just gotten out of a long and warm shower, had moisturized her whole newly shaved body and she felt like a brand new person.

Jay sat in their bed, shirtless, with Aurora tucked carefully into his arms as his back leaned against the headboard. His eyes went up and down her body before settling on her face, a lazy smile across his lips. "I heard. I think it's great that she did it."

"It really is. Makayla's trusted her from the start so she couldn't be in better hands." Riley pointed out, looking through her drawer for some clothes to put on. She grabbed some underwear as well as one of Jay's old shirt, going back to the bathroom to change and brush her teeth. "I wonder if she's going to ask Adam to help."

The whole Intelligence unit was more than aware of Adam and Kim's on and off relationship. They were the perfect pair yet they never seemed to be able to settle down together, there was always something that held them back. But now with Makayla, who they both loved, Riley believed it could bring them together for good. As she told Kim, it takes a village to raise and take care of a kid - and it is a hell of a lot easier with a partner.

And Riley knew that first hand because the past 7 months weren't the easiest of her life, but somehow Jay made them so much easier than she even thought possible.

"I think she will. Or he'll offer." Jay shrugged lightly, trying not to bother their sleeping daughter in his arms. "Either way, I'm sure they'll end up doing it together. They lover her and each other too much not to."

Riley walked back into the bedroom, settling in the bed next to him and curled up to his side. He wrapped his arm around the girl while the other arm still held their baby girl. She hummed, content, as she rested her head against his chest.

"Are you okay? I know the case was a rough one." Riley asked him softly, reaching out to grab Aurora's little hand between her fingers.

"I'm okay. It just shook up some things." Jay admitted, pulling her closer if that was even possible. "He reminded me of my dad somehow. Pat wasn't one for compliments or congratulations, but he did love us. I just - yeah."

Riley rubbed his arm lovingly, "You ever miss him?"

Jay nodded, "I think I do. I certainly regret the way I left things with him. That old man could not let things go, but I think I'd want answers. If I could talk to him one last time, I'd ask him why he acted the way he did with me - I'd try to make peace with him." He spoke, looking straight ahead as he felt her eyes on him. Jay slowly tilted his head down to look back into her eyes, "I think it's why I pushed you to see your mother, so you could get the answers I never got, if that make sense."

Riley's lips turned into a pout for only a few seconds, "You didn't push me, Jay. You encouraged me, in the end I made the decision myself." She lightly cupped his cheek, "You remember you said you had 'a feeling' about the case?" He nodded as he watched her roll over and reach for her nightstand. She opened the drawer and grabbed a file from it. She returned to her previous position, except she sat up instead of leaning against Jay, "If I'm being honest, I had a feeling about Esther and Agnes, too."
