"I don't wanna go to work today." Riley mumbled against Jay's lips as she laid bare on top of him, her hands wrapped around the back of his neck. She used her forearms to hold herself up while his hands rested high on her ribs, his thumbs rubbing the side of her breasts gently.
"Just tell the bad guys to take a week off." He answered, pushing his lips back on hers only to be unable to kiss her properly as she chuckled at his words.
"Mm, I like this plan." She finally responded, hearing her phone buzzing on her side table.
"Mm. Don't get it." Jay tightened his grip on her, trying to get her to stay right where she was. At first, she kept kissing him but then the phone kept buzzing, so Riley wiggled, trying to get out of his grip. He obviously disapproved, "Mm-mm. Mm!" He groaned, trying to capture her lips with his.
She chuckled, pressing light kisses on his lips before successfully rolling off of him. "I have to."
He groaned, throwing himself back dramatically. "No."
"Baby, I have to."
"Don't do it. Don't do it!" He kept trying to reach for her, settling for wrapping his arms around her as she grabbed her phone, still chuckling at his dramatic behaviour. Her laughter stopped abruptly and she visibly stiffened as she looked at her messages. "What's up?"
"That was Will, apparently my mom's in the hospital and I'm her contact." Riley blurted out, dragging a drape with her to cover her body as she sat up in bed. Jay quickly followed after her, standing up from the bed and getting dressed right way.
"What? How is that possible?" Jay asked, confused as to how her mother would have her as her emergency contact when they haven't spoken in over ten years.
"I have no clue." She told him, putting on a bra before quickly sliding on a hoodie. Riley rushed around, getting dressed and ready as Jay did the same.
"Let's go. We'll drop Aurora off at daycare and then I'll take you to Med."
"Uh, yeah, yeah. Okay." Riley spoke, hesitating as she wasn't sure if she wanted to see her mom. Sure, she reacted instantly because, well - the woman's her mother. But she hadn't even try to contact her for years so why the hell would she even go?
"I'll let you out when we get there, and I'll look for parking." Jay let her know as he drove towards the hospital, she nodded silently thanking him with only a look in her eyes that let him know that's what she meant.
"Units on the city-wide. We got a call of a man down in an alley, possible homicide. 4220 West Maypole."
"That's five blocks away. Come on, let's roll." Riley suddenly said after looking outside, trying to see where they were exactly. Jay abruptly turned his head towards her before looking back at the road, surprised by her words.
"Roll? What about your mom?" Jay questioned.
"I'll go later." She shrugged it off, grabbing the radio to respond to the call - not leaving any more room for discussion. "5021 Frank, plainclothes officers responding." Jay nodded to himself, turning on the lights and sirens before speeding up to head towards the call.
