Riley huffed, pulling her hair in a ponytail as she walked into the living room. She placed a kiss on top of Aurora's head as Jay turned to smile at her. He was standing shirtless in front of the stove, cooking breakfast for them.
"You came back home late last night." Jay remarked, waiting for her to finish tying her hair up before kissing her softly.
"Yeah, had a talk with Voight about the case." She paused, sighing again before she leaned against his chest as he wrapped his arm around her waist. "It was a heavy one for me and Hailey."
"I know," He squeezed her against him, holding her tighter. "How do you feel?"
"I'm still a little all over the place. I feel like a complete hypocrite. I pushed Annie because I believe she knew more and I really wanted to solve it, but then when Hailey tried to push to make a break in the case I backed out and got in her face about it." Riley sighed, her lips pulling into a pout.
"You're a loyal rule follower, Riley." Jay smiled, slightly pulling back so he could look at her. "That won't ever change. The case got to you and Hailey, and you both handled it differently. You recognized you were biased and stepped back while she ran right into it. That's what makes you - you and what makes her - her."
"I think that I see my dad into every bad father there is out there and myself in every little hurt kid. Voight says my loyalty is going to end up costing me at some point, but somehow I don't think he meant my career." She admitted, looking into his beautiful blue eyes.

"So the woman abducted is his wife, Jessica Larson. I want an ASA on board now. This could move fast." Voight spoke, walking alongside Jay and Riley. It was later in the evening and he'd just caught a case after going to Samantha Miller's press conference.
"I'm on it, Sarge." Jay told him, walking off with his phone already on his ear.
"We're pulling video. Hopefully, we'll get enough for facial rec." Riley called, following Jay as Voight kept walking towards the rest of the team who had taken out laptops to make some quick researches on scene.
"Any updates?" Jay asked as he drove, Riley sitting on the passenger seat with her two way in hand.
"Quick Route's tech's still saying he's on this block." Riley said, raising her head right as the car in front of them changed lane, exposing another car. "There he is."
"Sarge, we got a positive on the vehicle. He's heading south on Dempsey. Ruz, you copy?" Jay spoke in their coms, making sure the team knew.
"Copy that. We're coming around."
"Copy. On my way."
The team stopped their cars to surround the black vehicle they had their eyes on. Jay stepped out first, "Chicago PD! Let me see your hands. Nice and slow. Reach for the door and step out of the car. Keep your hands where I can see them."
