"No. Alessio. I had that one first!"

"No you didnt!" João and Alessio began arguing over the biggest pumpkin in the patch.

Meanwhile Samira opted for the smallest one. She toddled past her brother and cousin who were getting closer to each other. João shoved his cousin trying to pick up the heavy pumpkin.

"Don't push me, João!" Alessio shoved João back and he accidentally fell into Samira who also fell and began to cry.

"That's enough. Now neither of you are getting one. Go stand on the path with Auntie London and wait."

"But Zio-"  "Papa-" the boys said at the same time but Tony pointed to London and they both dropped their heads walking over to the woman.

"Are you okay, mimma?" She nodded, lightly sniffling as she showed her uncle her hands that had thorns in them. He brushed her
hands off before picking up her pumpkin.

"Should we pick one for mommy?" Samira nodded and they continued looking.

"What's wrong babes?"

London hugged Alessio as he was closer and wanted a hug.

"João's being a bully, mama"

"She's not your mama. You don't even have a mama!"

"Yes I do! At least I have a dad! Auntie Mina and Zio are not even your real parents because you're adopted. Your real mom and dad didn't want you! My mom didn't want me but at least my dad did! And now I have a new mom!"

"My mom wanted me"

"No, she didn't!"

"Yes, she did. Shut up you don't even know what you're talking about."

"Yes I do. That's why they got another baby because they don't want you either"

"Alessio! That's enough now. Come have a seat and don't get back up. You're done for the day. That was completely uncalled for." João stood in the middle of the path, fidgeting with his hands. Did Amina and Jamie not want him? His real mom and dad didn't. His biological dad always made it clear that he didn't want him so anytime he heard this it brought back memories of his dad.

"Come Joey" he shook his head sitting on the ground. He began to cry for his mama and daddy.

"You need to apologize, I will most definitely be talking to papa about what you said."

"He said something mean too!"

"Who are you raising your voice at Alessandro, do I need to tell papa you're being disrespectful?"

"No, no. Sorry, mama"

"Come here, Joey"

"Want mommy" he walked over to London, leaning on her. She wrapped her arms around him making Alessio jealous.

"Stop Alessio!" João whined when he began pushing him.

"Alessio, One-" not used to London's stern mama side, He quickly sat down with a pout. This was way different from the cool auntie vibes he was used to.

"Mama, daddy!" João ran to his mother and father but stopped midway when he remembered what Alessio said.

“Wow mimmo, you're gonna leave us hanging?” Jamie asked as he and Amina stopped walking so João could run up to them.

He walked over to them, his face crumbling as he got closer. He incoherently explained to his parents what Alessio said. Amina hugged him before taking his hand.

“Come take a walk with papa and mama.” Jamie held his hand out for his son as well. João held both his parents hand walking through the pumpkin patch.

“Where's your pumpkin bubba?” Amina asked. She and Jamie went on their own little hay ride to get some alone time.

“Uncle said I can't have one”

“Why?”

“Me and Alessio fighted over the pumpkin and my sissy fell. So uncle said now me and him don't get one. Please can I have a pumpkin. I didn't mean to hurt my sissy. Im really sorry”

“we will get you and Alessio a pumpkin,  mimmo. Dont worry” Jamie told him letting his hand go so he could walk around. He knew how much João wanted his pumpkin.

Meanwhile London was holding her own baby.

“. . .do you understand what I'm saying?” Alessio nodded.  Fat tears rolling down his cheeks.

“You're not in trouble, bubba. I just want you to know that what you said was very hurtful. What João said wasn't very nice either and I'll make sure Auntie deals with him. You and João are family. You don't fight with your family, right?” She asked, wiping his tears.

“No”

“No, you don't fight with your family.”

“I'll apologize, but can I still have a pumpkin, mama?”

“I don't know because papa said no. When he comes back we'll ask again, okay?” Alessio nodded wrapping his arms around London when she hugged him.

She looked up when she heard her niece.

She was laying over Tony's shoulder while he held what was probably the smallest pumpkin in the patch and a normal sized one under his arm.

“M'Flying Auntie. M'Flying!!” She put her arms straight out and London smiled, playing along.

"Wowww, smileyy"

Amina and Jamie could be seen a few feet away with João on Aminas shoulders. Jamie holding two of the biggest pumpkins he could find.

Once they got closer Amina and London put their boys down. London put her hand on his back quietly encouraging him to apologize.

“João, I'm sorry for what I said, it was really mean and I didn't mean to say it. I was just upset because we couldn't get pumpkins.”

“What did you say, Alessio?” Tony asked.

“it's okay ‘Lessio. I said mean things too. I'm sorry too.” They hugged leaving their parents confused.

“My papa let me get you one. You can have this one ‘cause it's bigger and you're a tiny bit older than me.”

“Great. That's settled, very good boys. Let's go home and carve some pumpkins!”

The kids cheered following London while Tony, Jamie and Amina followed behind them talking about plans for Samira's birthday and Christmas.
