Amina POV:

“Amina”

“Yes babe, what's wrong?”

“I'm outside”

“Why are you outside? I'm coming” I stood up checking on Samira before heading downstairs.

When I unlocked the door I saw London standing at the door with Alessio and my niece in her carseat.

“Awww, it's cold. Come in. Come in”

“Speak Alessio. Don't walk into your Aunt's house and not speak.”

“Sorry Auntie.” He rubbed his eyes, stumbling over to give me a hug.

“It's okay baby. You're sleepy aren't you?” I picked him up carrying him upstairs. He was still in his pajamas.

“He can walk Amina”

“Oh hush. I'm coming back.”

“Do you want to sleep with João?”

“Yes please.”

“Is mommy being mean, Lessio?”

“Uh huh. She screamed at me and I cried. Papa said mommy is just a little sad right now.”

“That's true. Mommy is a little sad but that doesn't give her an excuse to be mean and I'm going to talk to her about making my boy cry.” He smiled, making me smile. I put him down, pulling João's bed frame out and unfolding the foam mattress.  I dressed it up and laid him down.

“Have to go pee pee?”

“No”

“Alrighty, I'll leave the night light on. Are you hungry?”

“No. Please help Mommy feel better. She's. Mean to my papa too and it makes me sad.”

“That's not good. I'll talk to her. Okay?”

He nodded, laying down with an extra plushie that was on Joãos bed. I kissed his forehead and cracked the door.

By the time I got downstairs I heard the baby crying.

“Babe, what happened?” I hugged London when I noticed she was crying too.

“What's wrong?”

“I can't do this anymore.”

“Is Tony not helping you, babe? Don't cry.” First thing I noticed was that she wasn't comforting her baby. I took her out of her arms and sat with her.

“Is she clean? Did you feed her?”

“No” She put her head in her hands.

“Don't cry, it's overwhelming and I'm glad that you came to ask for help instead of bottling everything up. We're going to talk once I put her down.” I kissed her cheek and stood up to get Samira's changing mat.

“What's wrong mamas?” I laid her down changing her nappy. I could see that she's been wet for a while. That's probably why she was so irritated.

“Do you need nappies?” London asked and I shook my head.

“Relax babe. Breathe.” I told her taking my little niece into the kitchen. I cleaned her up and put her in one of Samira’s left over nappies from when she was younger. I made her a bottle and fed her. I patted her back waiting for her to burp. Once she did I laid her on my shoulder and rubbed her back. Once she finally fell asleep I cleaned out Samira’s pen and swaddled her. She could sleep in there until I found Samira's bassinet.

“You're doing good” I sat down hugging London. I've had a similar experience with Samira despite not giving birth to her but I could only imagine what life was like for her.
