Warning: SPG

I've been combing my hair with a bristle brush for four minutes now as I stared at the screen of my laptop, watching Eros doing his thesis.

We have been catching up with one another for the past three days.

It's invading my thoughts with utmost curiosity. For almost a week now!

How I wanted to ask Eros about it but I didn't want to tangle myself with their family problems.

How I want to strangle myself right now. But honestly, I don't believe its sentiment although it implies that I should leave well enough alone. I do take it as a warning to be cautious at times and understand what I might be getting myself into. It pays to take calculated risks...

My throat ran dry as I watched Eros doing his thing. This unabridged version of that idiom is much better. 'Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back'. The first part of the adage is to warn of less than prudent investigation or experimentation, but the second part indicates that the rewards can far outweigh the risks. The cat gets to live, curiosity does not kill it.

This happens to be the complete proverb. As we may have noticed, the second half is rarely ever said but adds quite a lot to the meaning.

The proverbial cat dies only because it's not able to get an answer for its curiosity. But when it does find out, the satisfaction that it feels is enough to bring the cat back to life.

The proverb was originally said so that people would be wary of conducting unnecessary and dangerous experiments. In a way, it was right. One should always be careful about what we are curious about. Being interested in how the human mind works which is psychology, is very different from wanting to know how the brain reacts to electric shocks.

So, in short, be... curious. Curiosity is the fuel of the mind. Take it away, and life will probably be dull and dreary.

Sergio asked me out of the blue. I turned my head to him with furrowed brows. Nabitin ako sa pag-nguya. He was looking at me with a lingering gaze, anticipating my response.

"Oo, why? I hope na tumagal naman—"

He snorted, cutting me off. Ano raw?

"Akala ko ba we're only having a sleepover?!" Malantod! Parang ako. Kaya nga kami best friends. We are cut from the same cloth. Ganern.

Bakit parang planado 'to ni Matet? Nilinlang niya ako! Keber.

"We are! Pero mag-club muna tayo, gawain mo naman 'to sa Manila, right? Mag-ayos ka na! Arte mo."
