"Caleb, Ezra's arrested. What the hell do we do?" I asked in his apartment.
"I don't know. But A put him there. A could do it to us at any minute. But the question is why?"
"Because he wanted to quit the A team," Alison said walking in. "I overheard him and Mona talking about it."
"Did he put the girls there?" Caleb asked in disbelief.
"No, he wasn't told that part of the plan. He wanted to quit and A wasn't happy about that. So he/she/it put him in jail for dating Aria."
"Maybe he joined to protect her," I said. "I mean we all would wouldn't we? To protect someone we love?"
"Yeah. When we find the girls, because we will. We don't tell them," Caleb said.
"What? Why?" Ali asked.
"They wouldn't listen. They would just say he lied to us the entire time," I said.
"But if they find out about it and find out we knew, they would hate us," Alison said.
"I'm willing to risk it. He's innocent," I said. "I mean he tortured them and that's not good, but he wouldn't do this to Aria."
"I guess we just need to make sure this is buried and not found out about it," Caleb said.
"But with A in our lives, we know it won't be buried for long."
"As long as we can keep it buried for some time in order to find a proper excuse."
We all nodded in agreement and decided that the girls don't have to know. Not until they are safe at home for a while.
