She deserves so much better. She deserves a better friend. I wish we never had met, so then I wouldn't be so pissed off right now, and I wouldn't be in love with her.
It feels so good to think that, but so bad to feel it. Spencer hates me. She would never be with me, or seen with me for that matter.
I can't give up. If I do, I will never forgive myself.
I start walking to Spencer's house unsure of what I would say. All I know is that I have to get her on my side again. I need to be with her. She's my best friend.
Knocking on the door, my heart begins to race. It's as if it's not even in my body anymore.
"What?" Melissa asked opening the door.
"Is Spencer home?"
"Yeah. She's sleeping. She came home crying. I went to check on her a few minutes ago and she was asleep. So go away."
"Melis-"
"Melissa? Is that you?" Spencer asked walking down the stairs.
"Yeah. Just getting rid of someone," Melissa calls back. "Seriously Toby, get out of here. Spencer's not in the best of moods."
"I know. It's my fault. I just need to explain and apologize to her."
"Sorry. But no."
With that, she closes the door in my face and I walk away. I walk to the side of the house, where Spencer's bedroom window is, and I climb up the wall and into her room.
Hearing footsteps coming closer, I quickly hide in her closet behind her clothes and listen.
"Why? What did he do?" I heard Melissa ask.
"Nothing. Nothing you need to worry about. We just got in a fight, that's all. Promise."
"Just hear him out at least. Mom and dad won't enjoy the same person knocking on the door over and over again."
"Fine. I will. Can you just not say anything to them. Please, Melissa?"
"Fine. But talk to him soon."
"Will do."
I hear footsteps leave and close the door as other open the closet door. I see Spencer and she sees me.
"What are you doing? Get out," she says pulling me out.
"Please just listen to me."
"No."
"You told Melissa you would."
"I lied. Toby get out. I will talk to you another time."
"Will you?"
"Probably not."
