As Spencer sits on the couch staring into the fire, I made her a cup of coffee and brought it to her.

"Thanks," she said half smiling.

"How are you doing?" I asked sitting next to her.

"Fine. Can't sleep, though. And I'm-never mind. How are you doing?" She asked taking a sip of her coffee.

"I'm glad I got you back."

We were silent for a while. Neither of us minded though. Every time I looked at her, she would just stare at the fire.

She looks so fragile. Like if you move her she will break. I need to know what happened, but I'm not going to pressure her into telling me.

"Toby, I'm so scared," she whispered. "I feel like if I go home or just about anywhere, A will get me."

"I won't let that happen. I promise I will protect you," I said hugging her as some tears formed. "I promise."

"You can't promise that. You don't know what will happen-"

"I know I won't let anyone hurt you, or I'll try my best at it. Spence, I love you. I won't lose you again."

"I love you too," she said then kissed me hard.

I responded with passion as she straddled my lap, without our lips disconnecting.

Eventually our clothes came off and we, you know...

The next morning, I woke up only to see a note on the table.

Toby,

I didn't wake you up, but you need to know that I went home. Thanks for a great night. Call me when you wake up. I love you.

Love,
Spencer

I stand up and put on my clothes. As I make some breakfast, I call Spencer, but she doesn't answer.

I keep calling, and she finally picked up and I sighed in relief.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Spence. You okay?"

"Huh? Is anyone there?"

"Spencer? What's wrong?" I asked grabbing my keys.

"Toby, I'm at home. I can't here you, just come over," she said before hanging up.

On my way over, I see a car speeding towards me. I try to move out of the way, but it's too late. I got hit and immediately feel pain in my head.
