Tony wasn't kidding when he said I was going to school.
Not just any school- some kind of top-tier science academy full of kids who could probably build rockets out of soda cans.

Tony had this whole elaborate plan worked out, of course.

Rule one: my name was now Bella.

Rule two: I'd use my powers every day to make sure no one recognized me. He made me practice that- again.

Rule three: I'd live in a small apartment nearby- one bedroom, one kitchen, one place to pretend I was normal. Tony said it would be safer if I didn't stay with him. Honestly, I agreed. He still told me I could visit anytime.

And rule four: besides hiding my identity- no using my powers. Period.

Yesterday, I'd gone out shopping with Tony's card- his idea, not mine, though I didn't complain. Furniture, groceries, clothes. Everything I needed to make the apartment feel like something more than a cover story.

When morning came, I actually felt....nervous. School.
After everything I'd survived, that was what scared me.

I got ready, slung my bag over my shoulder, and started walking.

The building was massive. Hallways twisting on every direction, filled with chatter and the smell of new textbooks. I tried to find the principals office, but after ten minutes of walking in circles, I gave up and reached for my phone to call Tony.

That's when I heard a voice.

"H-hey!"

I looked up. A boy stood there- brown hair, nervous smile, hands shoved into his pockets.

"Uh, hi?" I said

He froze for a second, like he forgot how to speak.
He doesn't say anything else he just stares at me
"S-sorry. I just- uh, noticed you were new. Thought you might need help" he said

Relief hit me.
"Actually, yeah. I'm tricky to find the principals office is" I said

He smiled, a little shy but kind.
"I can show you" he said

We stopped at the office door, and I turned to him.
"Thanks-" I started

"Peter. Peter Parker" he said quickly, smiling.

"Thanks, Peter" I said.

"Anytime-uh..." he trailed off expectantly.

"E...Bella" I said

"Anytime, Bella" he said again, grin widening.
"Want me to wait? I mean- uh so I can show you to your first class is. So your not late" he muttered

I couldn't help but laugh.
"If you wouldn't mind, Id appreciate that" I said

The principal was friendly.
"Welcome, bella. We're happy to have you" he said warmly.

"Thank you" I said, smiling the way I practiced.
