I walked through the city for a couple of hours, trying to clear my mind from all the chaos going on. The wind but through the edges of my jacket, the sounds of traffic and distant chatter fading into white noise.

Then I looked up- and froze.

Strung between the bridge were silvery strands of web forming the words 'I love you'.

A smile tugged at my lips. Of course he did that. I lifted off the ground, flying over the water toward the bridge.

Peter was standing there, his hair tousled by the breeze and that signature grin on his face.

"You like it?" He asked.

"Like it? I love it" I smiled, leaning in to kiss him.

"What's the gift for?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Just because.. I love you." He said

"Really?" I crossed my arms, teasing.
"What did you do?" I ask

He groaned.
"Why do you always assume I did something?" He said

"Well, did you or did you not do something?" I ask.

"...okay, fine, yes I did something" he said

"See? Told ya. Don't need to read your mind to understand you" I said, smirking.

Before he could answer, we both froze.
Something was off.

"You feel that?" Peter asked quietly.

"Yep" I muttered, eyes scanning the horizon.

A roar of panic erupted below us- people screaming, cars honking. Peter jumped onto a car nearby.

"Why are you running?!" Peter shouted to a fleeing crowd, but no one answered.

Then a car exploded.

And out of the smoke came a man.....a man with tentacles sprouting from his back.

A octopus man.

Peter tapped on a car window.
"Ma'am, you should get out of the car." He said

I used my powers to sense who was inside- the MIT lady.

"Shit. Everybody get off the bridge!" I yelled, my suit forming around me in a shimmer of light. Peter's nanotech mask covered his face beside me.

The man stoped a few feet away, his voice deep and distorted.
"Hello, Peter." He said

"Hi? Do we-? Do I know you?" Peter asked, genuinely confused.

"What have you done with my machine?" The nan demanded.

"What are you talking about? What machine?" I asked.

"The power of the sun in the palm of my hand girl. It's gone." He hissed.

"Listen, sir if you stop smashing cars we can work together and I can help you find your machine" Peter said.

"You wanna play games?" he said.
