The scent of something warm and familiar pulled me from my thoughts before I even made it past the doorway. Pepper was cooking- of course she was- and for a moment, it almost felt like stepping into another life. One where the world hadn't broken itself apart.

I barely had time to take a breath before I heard a light patter of footsteps coming my way. A small voice followed.

I looked down and found a tiny version of Tony stark standing in front of me. Brown hair, bright eyes, that same spark is curiosity- yeah, there was no mistaking that.

I knelt to her level, smiling.
"Well hello there. What's your name?" I ask

"My name is Morgan. What's yours?" She asked

"My name's Elizabeth" I smile

Her eyes widened.
"You're the one daddy tells me about" she said

I couldn't help but laugh softly.
"Is that so?" I said

She nodded, all seriousness.
"Can you show me your powers?" She asked.

"Of course" I said

I reached into her thoughts, gentle as a whisper, and found exactly what I needed- horses. She loved horses. With a small wave of my hand, a shimmering vision appeared: a blue horse galloping and rearing, its mane flowing like sunlight through water.

Morgan gasped, giggling uncontrollably.
"Daddy! Daddy! She showed me my favorite animal!" She yelled as she bolted down the hall.

I stood just as Tony appeared, looking about as surprised as ever.

"Lunch?" He offered.

"Can't turn down food" I said with a small grin, following him to the table.

Over sandwiches and soup, I told him everything. Every word felt heavier than the last, but Tony listened. Really listened. Like he was trying to hold into every piece.

After dinner, pepper and I cleaned up while Tony put Morgan to bed. When he came back down, he was quieter than usual. Thoughtful.

"Hey, Elizabeth. Morgan's insisting you have to come tell her goodnight" he said softly.

I laughed.
"I'd gladly" I said

When I walked into her room, she was still wide awake, grinning like she'd been wishing forever.

"The star of the show is here" I teased.

"Yay!" She cheered.

I knelt beside her.
"Goodn-" I start

"No!" She said quickly.
"You have to sing or tell me a story" she said

"Oh, do I now? I didn't know there were rules" I laughed.

I thought for a second, then smiled softly.
"How about a song my brother used to sing to me?" I ask
