The human mind is really the scariest thing of all.
There was once a girl who vowed she would save everyone in the world, but forgot herself.

After dinner, we all went back up to our rooms. Thankfully, I was paired with MJ. We got ready for bed, talking here and there about the day- the water monster, the crowd, how unreal it all still felt. Eventually, she climbed into her bed, and I laid back on mine, my mind still too wired to rest.
Then I felt it. That prickling sensation in the air- someone else was in the room. Someone who wasn't MJ.
I shot up, heart pounding.
"Bella? What's wrong?" MJ asked, sitting up.
I didn't answer. I just moved. Quiet. Controlled. I rounded the corner-
- and came face to face with Nick Fury.
MJ followed me, eyes wide, about to scream before I moved faster than she could breathe. I covered her mouth gently.
"MJ shh." I whispered, and with a small wave of my hand, I sent her into a deep sleep. Her body went limp, and I floated her back to her bed, making sure she'd forget what she saw.
"You know" I said, turning to him. "you could've just called. Or sent a message. Like a normal person" I said
"This is more enjoyable" fury replied, deadpan.
I rolled my eyes. "You're unbelievable" I said
He ignored that. "Here's the run down. I used to know everything. Then I come back five years later, and now I know nothing. No intel, no team. And a high school kid is dodging my calls." He said
"That's not me. That's Parker" I said quickly.
"I'm aware. But both of you are in my radar" he said
He stepped closer, voice lowering. "But here's what I do know. I know that another high school kid will lead the avengers if the time comes. And a week ago, a village in Mexico was wiped out by a cyclone. Witnesses say that cyclone had a face. Three days later a similar event in Morocco. A village was destroyed by what may well be another world-threatening event" he said
I crossed my arms. "I have a feeling I know where this is going" I said
"And you're most likely right. Suit up" he said
Then he just turned and walked out.
Typical Fury.
Fury drove the boat across the canals- or rather, his driver did. Fury stood near the front, the moonlight reflecting off the water as we glided toward what looked like some kind of hidden base.
"Stark left me a note in case anything were to happen after the battle." Fury said finally, his tone quieter now.
He handed a box to peter. "He gave me these to give to you" he said
Then another one to me. "And these for you" he said
I opened mine. Inside were the same glasses I'd worn when we pulled up to the avengers compound after figuring out time travel. For a moment, I just stared at them. The weight of memory hit harder than i expected.
